In the past, I would have considered this notion absurd and unnecessarily vitriolic. If anything, I found them somewhat agnostic, which doesn't particularly bother me.
But echoing MDDad's post on another thread, and just my own sense of how certain events involving religious groups are treated very differently in the media, and by democratic leaders, I'm now more on board with the idea there is an underlying, and possibly GROWING, anti-Christian sentiment.
This piece is from a right wing outlet, so not exactly a balanced perspective. But some points are made that are difficult to dispute.

They shy away for two reasons I think of, one is not being judged by any moral standard played out in Christianity. Second is the media yet again strikes as they have for so long tied the right to religion and in its a all or nothing political existence these days if you stand against Republicans you must stand against religion.
I often come back to the MSM and how it is skewed so far that it can not claim anything righteous or right about religion or christianity thus you are endorsing conservatism or Republicanism.

Both of you are right. There is a growing anti-religious in general and anti-Christian in particular movement in the US. It’s a minority of leftists, but it's a vocal segment. Several reasons seem evident.
SK80 is right because religious beliefs by definition imply moral standards and, by extension, community standards. Moral and community standards are antithetical to the moral relativity espoused by our evolved, woke brethren. Applying moral standards might lead to such outlandish and archaic conclusions as believing there are only 2 genders, or that there should be separate restroom facilities for men and women, or that violence is not justified when you really, really, really don’t like something, or that your being offended may be something you simply have to live with.
To these people, religious beliefs are associated with oppression and therefore somehow linked to the omnipresent male patriarchy and white privilege responsible for their oppression.
I don’t think there’s a very large percentage of people who buy into this, but certainly they make themselves heard......................Luca

Read the article Bick posted from The American Thinker. Yes, it is a conservative website. And yes, it is on target.
Further, if by "Christian" we mean historic, orthodox, Biblical Christianity, then I believe the thesis proposed by this thread is correct. How can a political party whose two most important causes are (1) abortion-on-demand and the (2) LGBTQ agenda be considered anything but anti-Christian? "Woke" Christians (liberals) will object to this characterization of abortion as their #1 priority, but try making the following offer to any partisan Democrat: You liberals can have your way on every single policy you wish (taxes, gun control, healthcare, immigration, etc.) in exchange for giving conservatives their choice on just one--abortion. Deal or no deal?
Now you already know the answer. They would never accept these terms, which tells you just how much they are devoted to abortion--and by extension, the entire so-called Sexual Revolution of the 1960's. Just look at the current Democrat 2020 hopefuls. The only one of the bunch who spends any time speaking proudly of his Christian faith is the gay married guy (!),Pete Buttigieg. Can you imagine any of the others publicly proclaiming their faith in God or having anything positive to say about Christianity or the Catholic Church? That would quickly hasten the end of their primary campaigns.
Many rank-and-file Democrats may sincerely try to reconcile their Christian faith with their liberal politics, but, when push comes to shove, their politics will win out. Woke Christianity is a Christianity without Christ, a Christianity without the Cross. This began long ago with the Social Gospel movement of the late 19th century and today is simply reaching its logical conclusion, which is essentially a post-Christian Christianity.
Here are a couple of other pieces that point out how this false progressive Christianity is being employed by Democrats to bludgeon the adherents of authentic Christianity:

Christian Democrats of America: We're not in favor of killing babies. We just want it to be legal, safe, and rare. Babies should not be killed after 12 weeks.
Their problem--besides being morally incoherent--is that their platform on abortion would be considered "right-wing extremism" by every Democrat running for the 2020 POTUS.

Not just democrats, but yes they are.
It was never more apparent when both Obama and McCain participated in a panel hosted by mega-church pastor and Christian, Rick Warren in the 2008 campaign.
In it, we saw the only regard these men had, as representatives of their parties was as a siting group they believed was (and is) homogeneous in their beliefs. In fact, I believe the only reason McCain chose the ill-advised Palin as his running mate was to further pander to this group.
His lordship, once he became president, effectively led the charge against Christians by deepening the divide against us for eight years primarily by promoting Islam and putting them against Christians who he branded as intolerant and closed-minded. And by devaluing some of the church-based outreach programs.
But followers of Christ are not surprised by any of this. A minor wrinkle in end-times prophecies has recently been a recognition that the U.S. is not mentioned or even referred to (so either the U.S. diminishes OR end-times prophecies are only about Israel)...
Followers of Christ are also not surprised by the diminution of Christianity because many of those prophecies show Christ’s Church will be persecuted before Christ returns. This could be, as the Bible calls it, “the beginning of sorrows.” NOT that we are (or are not) close, I’m only explaining why Christians are not particularly surprised by any of this.

I could be wrong, but in my mind there's nothing more intolerant and closed-minded than a jihadist suicide-bomber blowing up as many "infidels" as he can. Furthermore, not many of those kinds of miscreants are Christian. Yet despite the fact that almost all of them are of one faith, Barack Obama started the practice of insisting they be treated with kid gloves in order to avoid offending them or their Muslim brethren. It's a shame he couldn't show the same magnanimity when it came to white cops shooting black suspects.

MDD / Dave / Credo - It's pretty well documented what Obama's role has been in defending muslims. I'm interested in your take on the platform of the Christian Democrats, and specifically their position on abortion. Does it seem like a reasonable position to you?

The problem with these Christian Democrats is that their platform on abortion is neither Christian nor pro-life. It is merely a decaffenated version of the mainstream Democrat Party platform. Having said that, I would happily accept their proposed limits as an improvement over the current status quo, even though it would only effectively rule out less than 10% of approximately 900,000 annual abortions in the United States. Hardly a courageous stand on their part.

I think the answer to the title of this thread is "kind of".
I've posited several times that I believe Democrats/liberals are absolutely convinced of two things. One is their intellectual superiority over their conservatives counterparts, and the other is their belief that they are socially and morally more enlightened, and therefore more highly evolved, than the rest of us. Furthermore, I'm convinced that almost everything they think, do, say and stand for is an attempt to reaffirm those superiorities.
I can't remember the number of times the usual suspects on TOB referred to Christians as believing in "myths" and "fairy tales", as though Christians are some more primitive form of homo sapiens than they themselves. This not only reaffirms their intellectual superiority, but also their more highly enlightened scientific view of the world. They are much more willing to believe that space aliens from the Bazinga Galaxy helped build the pyramids than that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
They also continuously point out that Christians are hypocrites, referring most often to their support of Donald Trump, whom liberals perceive as a most un-Christian man. Yet they never seem to recognize any of their own many hypocrisies, not the least of which is insisting that the most heinous murderers among us be allowed to live, yet that unborn children who have committed no crime be put to death.
And finally, they believe that most Christians are politically conservative, and thereby worthy of being opposed for no other reason than their political bent.
I don't know if all that means liberals are "anti-Christian". But it certainly lends credence to the feeling that they view Christians with disdain, contempt and ridicule. If nothing else, it bolsters their sense of their own superiority.
