Deep inner circle. Anything like the deep state? Hope not it it will significantly erode confidence in the institution.

 .. this piqued EVEYONE's attention. That's a different standard. 

I understand why MD is keeping this confidential as that is standard Human Resources practice in almost every company, business, and school in the country. But MD lives in the spotlight so when this happens there it raises eyebrows. And with the recent ‘hazing’ scandal and Rollo’s unceremonious stepping down, the school can ill afford any more bad publicity. I hope this is just your typical run of the mill firing because the coach and administration butted heads too much. Either way, it is a head scratcher for many because by all normal standards, Frank was successful in his first season.

You're right, it unfortunately does go with the territory.  But getting "a little more scrutiny than Saddleback" is hardly enough reason to break confidentiality and privacy considerations.  There is no constitutional right for a nosy public to know everything they may want to know.

I think the difference between "interested curiosity" and a "nosy public" is probably just one of semantics. At the bottom of both is the desire to be shocked or titillated by what some hope are lurid details. That's human nature. When someone gets fired, arrested, sued or divorced, we all want to know what happened. But thankfully, decency and privacy still win out in most of those cases. If the price for that is that "speculation will run rampant and hypecritical", so be it. After a few weeks or months of chaos, rumors and choppy waters, this be a change for the better.

Bingo.  Thank you.  Too many people think they have the right to know things when they really don't.
