Had anybody predicted this 15 years ago they would’ve been laughed off the board. Back then Lara was reviled as a tactical mediocrity, who won simply because he had by far the best talent in CIF. Which he did. But it is interesting to note that not long after he left, Poly went downhill. Some of that of course was due to the club programs siphoning off talent from them, but still………
He is an admirable guy, however. He brings integrity and character which from what I’m told is why McManus is out. As I said before, I don’t think that program needs an offensive or defensive guru. What they need is a manager and motivator who comes across well. I think Rollinson was past his prime as a tactician over the last several seasons but the program had very good assistant coaches to carry it. It’s a hopeful sign from Mater Dei and I hope additional changes are coming. Hope springs eternal in the human breast……………Luca

He and Brennan have history which seems to be behind this hire more than anything else.
Haven't read if he's bringing in his own assistants or if he's got the autonomy to do so v. being a figurehead.
Transition from a legend like Coach Rollinson is messy enough when the administration remains, but MD has had recent changes there as well.

I get the impression he's the antithesis of McManus. Get the feeling there was some off the field distractions as well
