No one was surprised by Taylor Swifts endorsement of Kamala Harris last night. While a political neophyte, Swift does influence quite a few young people, so I believe dismissing her endorsement outright is the wrong thing to do & just lazy. Rather, look closely at the endorsement, it is very revealing.
Of course Swift finds Harris's positions appealing, just look at what matters to Swift. Her extremely successful career is her #1 priority. She also has a history of relationships with dozens of different men over the years and a pregnancy would put that singing career in jeopardy. So, to Swift, being able to get an abortion anytime or anywhere is very important. She believes she gets that if Harris is elected.
Swifts' wealth makes the issues of the economy, illegal immigration or even a potential major war moot to her. She can buy whatever she wants, is protected & isolated at all times and can live wherever she wants. The issues that affect the average American don't affect her, so the fact that Harris is horrible when it comes to those policies has zero effect on Swift.
However, those same issues that Swift is blessed to be immune to do indeed affect her fans & the parents of her fans. Those Swifties are getting hammered by the rising costs of living, are affected daily by the influx of illegal aliens and may end up losing their home, town or life should war come to our shores. They don't have the luxury Taylor has to endorse someone like Harris & then avoid the consequences of that choice.
So what it comes down to is Taylor Swift has made an endorsement that benefits her at the expense of her fans. It looks like she has learned how to become part of the establishment, make sure her fans are aware of that.
