Thanks for making me feel welcome. I worked at the racetrack for a lot of years. At the Southern California tracks. Santa Anita, Hollywood Park, Del Mar. I always enjoy the classic races. Like the old saying, the Kentucky Derby is the best two minutes in sports. Although they’ll be going over two minutes tomorrow with the rain and sloppy track. Roadster is my pick but who knows. The best horse doesn’t always win in a field of 20.

I look for Glue Factory to win, followed closely by Soontobedogchow.

I miss the harness races at Los Alamitos. Not sure whipping animals in public is in vogue anymore......

I miss the harness races at Los Alamitos. About 30 years ago, we were in Las Vegas at Sam's Town casino. Stuck near the back of the slots was a horse racing machine that used old footage from Los Alamitos as the races to bet on. The odds would be listed on the screen, you would make your bets and then the film would play revealing the winner. Well, one of the guys in our group was a horse racing junkie, always at the track. For about 25% of the races, he could remember a horse or two that finished in the money. We would bet on those horses to win, place and show and won a bundle. Unfortunately, the bets were limited to $2.50 (ten quarters) per race. We came back to Vegas a couple months later and that machine was gone...

Christ, just was horse racing needed - another huge black eye in their biggest event of the year. very unfortunate, couldn't have written a worse script and bigger damper then the rain the was falling....., it was how the right call. It why you set the rules. Dismissing them because of the magnitude of the race and the money involved in the entire Triple Crown would have been a bigger stain had they gone that direction. I couldn't help to think that if this happened in NY or California the outcome would have been different!
