I may be in the minority on this topic, but if the stepped up tariffs on Chinese goods start the process of bending the arc back to Americans making their own goods, then I'm in full support. Trump has been talking about China's unfair trade practices for 35 years now and it's about time someone takes a stand.

Hopefully this is a topic that we can dig deep into.
I'm more of a Sowell guy, and he's pretty much dead set against. I think there may be some wiggle room in that thinking if we can get other countries to cut their tariffs on US goods.
As next importers from China, I'm pretty sure any tariff disproportionately affects them more than us. If so, I'm pretty sure Trump knows this and is dealing from a position of strength, as any good businessman would.

I don't see this far from what he has done policy wise with oil and getting OFF middle east dependency! I was just talking about the making things in America again with the father in law today...., I personally am tired of buying everything made in China and made poorly.

Steve Hilton talks about Trump standing up to China, including how Joe Biden is totally compromised with the Chinese. They need us more than we need them. Might as well act from a position of strength.

Love the threatened tariffs on Mexico for failing to assist with the border situation. Here's a man of action, in contrast to both parties in Congress who look increasingly weak and out-of-touch on an issue (border security) that has had massive popular support decades.

Big VICTORY for TRUMP! #WINNING! I would call this a major backdown by the Mexican government. US, Mexico hammer out last-minute deal to curb migration, avoid tariffs news.yahoo.com/us-warns-mexico-tariffs-imminent-migration-row-simmers-165915953.html""I am pleased to inform you that The United States of America has reached a signed agreement with Mexico. The Tariffs scheduled to be implemented by the U.S. on Monday, against Mexico, are hereby indefinitely suspended," Trump wrote on Twitter shortly after returning from a trip to Europe.
"Mexico, in turn, has agreed to take strong measures to stem the tide of Migration through Mexico, and to our Southern Border. This is being done to greatly reduce, or eliminate, Illegal Immigration coming from Mexico and into the United States."
Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, who had planned to head Saturday to the border city of Tijuana to show solidarity ahead of the tariffs, said that his trip would instead be to "celebrate."
