I thought that was part of the uniform for all the mods at OCC? JQP tried to implement that rule, but I don't have a man-gyna, so I refused.

If any of you guys ever wore a pair of these back in the day, come clean now. I wore #12 and #14, but in solid black... no red. and I looked stunning, if I say so.

These were my style in high school. Saddle shoes. They came in brown with a black "saddle," or in all black. I couldn't find the all black ones one time, so I bought the brown and black ones, and a bottle of black shoe dye. However...in the process of dying the brown parts black, I accidentally knocked over the black shoe dye on my bedroom rug, which was tan. I knew I was in big trouble, so I cut a square out of the rug in the closet, intending to cut out the ruined carpet and make a switch. Until I could get enough time alone to make the switch, I just laid the closet carpet over the ruined spot. It was , unfortunately, discovered before I could execute my plan. And yes...I was right about being in big trouble.

I had #15 because I was listed as 5'5" in the program and I wanted to be 5'5" for real (with shoes on)

The red-blooded patriot in me is still amazed we went to the moon with chalk boards and 1960's technology. My "woke" alter ego looks at this and sees a conspiracy of white privilege and patriarchy.

I forget the exact numbers, but I read once that a modern smartphone has something like 1,000 times the computing power of all the NASA computers that put a man on the moon.
And we give them to ten-year-olds.

One of my favorite movies dealt with human "computers", and their role in getting John Glenn into orbit,

And we give them to ten-year-olds. Correct, but the numbers are even larger than that. For example, the Apollo Guidance Computer, the one on board of the Apollo 11 module, had processing speeds of .043 Mhz. The iPhone 5 has processing speeds of 1.3 GHz. To put that into comparative numbers, that is 43 compared to 1,300,000. The iPhone can process commands 30 thousand times faster

I remember seeing this photo as kid in some Life Magazine special, and it always struck me as one of the best depictions of the glorious and terrible paradoxes of humanity: the empathy and friendship of very different men in the midst of almost senseless war and suffering.

Anyone who places the toilet paper roll "under" should be forced to kiss Hillary Clinton.

Definitely a pet peeve. Fold the last piece into a triangle if you want to leave it with a little class for the next guy's ...
