I used to work summers between school for Bekins, the old moving company. You’d see one of those SOBs as soon as you walked into someone’s living room and your first reaction was “Ah, shit!” . The only thing worse was a piano...................Luca

For a couple of years in the late 1990's, Sony made a 40" CRT TV as part of their Wega line. It was the proverbial boat anchor. So I was at a customers house, he has one in his upstairs MBed and needs it lifted up onto a high shelf/cubbyhole that was made for the TV. It took me, the customer & 2 of his gardeners to lift that thing up in place. As we catch our breath, I suddenly realize "crap, I forgot to plug it in...".

We often wonder "Can't we all just get along"...? More times than not, civility is a choice. Why do so many in politics, the media and Hollywood choose to show and tell us otherwise?

It's perfectly understandable when you think about it. The left, which is all about inclusion and tolerance, won't tolerate any of its members associating with those of different political or social views. Other than saying something that might offend someone, it's the greatest crime one can commit.

Evidently, the "fans" they are talking about are the Ellen DeGenaris fans on Twitter, not actual football fans there - God knows why when they can be babbling on Twitter - to watch the game. I remember Ramon making fun of me because I only had like 3 followers on twitter. I use it primarily to get twitter updates on Servite football games that aren't streamed live. I'm up to a whopping 11 now including Troy Thomas. Most people unfollow me out of boredom.  |

No twitter, no facebook, no instragram, and a flip-phone. I refuse to get sucked into that shit.
As I think I've said before, I believe there's a strong chance that the rise of social media will be what marks the beginning of the decline of western civilization. When anyone can post anything they want as truth and fact, then truth and fact become entirely subjective and untrustworthy. That by itself will make it difficult for democracies and representative governments to survive.

I would believe that you are disciplined & stable enough that you could use newer technology for to benefit your life without falling down the rabbit hole. Today's phones are amazing machines, the fact that they get used primarily for gossip by others is sad, but that doesn't mean you have to use them that way. I live pretty much old school, even though I work with new technology every day. I try to be a mix of analog & digital, grabbing the best of both worlds. Like you, I have no interest in Facebook, although I do have a fake account that I use to get information on folks if need be...  |
