Nobody has canonized Trump. I think we’re all aware of his shortcomings. But it’s perhaps a stretch to evaluate a marriage based on someone’s facial expression while watching a sumo contest. The normal expression would be anything from “WTF?” to ‘“How the hell long is this gonna last?” to “Christ, this is boring”........but to read “Lo, mine is an unhappy marriage” takes a Wabashian leap of faith.
If you wanna be a master sage you gotta be sagacious, or at least fake it like I do..................Luca

I also think calling is “Trump supporters” because we don’t agree the photo suggests their marriage is in trouble is a bit of a stretch.

In none of these photos are Donald and Melania holding hands, and notice in the bottom right pic how Melania has her hands tightly clasped and is staring daggers into Donald's back. This clearly indicates her utter disdain for being forced into the position of First Lady of the United States. I mean, when the former fashion model became the third wife of a flamboyant billionaire and prime-time television star she must have thought her life would be quiet and out of the spotlight. Totally pissed, I'd say.  |

Dave, I called you Trump supporters because you are Trump supporters. Am I wrong? Stop digging. I am arguably--and unabashedly--the biggest Trump supporter here. But throwing shade on the state of any President's marriage based on a photo carries ZERO interest for me. Other than that, it's been a fun thread. I'm going to try to post a non-political photo later to get the thread back on track. |

Yes, in the sense I typically hear that term used, although I also give due respect to you in thinking you might use it differently than most. The term “Trump supporters” is typically used as a slur intended to indicate we have limited capacity for rational thought. Now that I think it through, you probably only referred to the statement many of us have made that we support what he is doing, but not necessarily the man himself. However, agreement or disagreement with your take on a photo doesn’t indicate support one way or the other. |

Too much time being spent here and the rest of the world analyzing from a photo (insta-second snap of time) the relationship between DT & his wife. Let me tell you this she is now a smiley gal in the least even when happy, she doesn't have that expression in her facial DNA.

Jesus, guys. This thread is little different from TOB: Someone takes a jab at the guy you consider the anointed one, and you all pile on. There are plenty of other videos that suggest they aren't a happy couple, and the facts and allegations surrounding who he is, and his behavior in general is ample ammo to make a pretty compelling case they aren't. Inauguration Day, her slapping his hand away, and likely a few others being circulated out there, would be better "proof" of such than the sumo wrestling photo. I think most here are evaluating the photo at face value, and not piling on with some counter-narrative that Don and Melania really are happily married. FWIW, I don't think they are, not that it's any of my business in the first place. |

My thinking is, - The subject of this thread is the photo, but also asks a question: QI don’t think the photo shows either way. But...

speaking as if Bill & Hillary were "Muskrat Love" for 8 years..., even BO and MO were reported to not have had a smooth two terms either. I personally do not care. I can only hope she or they find happiness, she is a good mother Melania and she seems to enjoy that part. Not sure in todays times being married to the most powerful man in the world is a virtue one would want bestowed...

Well, this thread has my vote when we start nominations for "Most Aimless and Inconclusive Thread of 2019 Award."
All the years I spent reading up on psychology and psychiatry and they never told me you could figure out everything you need to know from a couple of still pictures.

One can support Trump, or any president for that matter, without being a backer or apologist for said president.
I think Donald Trump is a blowhard. I think Donald trump has done an excellent job as President. I think Donald Trump would be a difficult person to live with. I don't think that photo represents a problem in his marriage. It is indeed possible to have all of those thoughts & beliefs at the same time.
I am betting that MDDad is doing a piece of performance art and we are the unwitting cast...

You can see here that Melania is clearly miserable. I think she just asked the queen if she could be granted asylum in the U.K. when Donald is impeached.
