It's a real word.
"Circum-" meaning "around".
"-Locute" meaning "to speak."
Circumlocute, meaning to speak around a topic rather than addressing it.
This from a guy who has a Latin motto at the bottom of his posts?
Surely you've heard the adage "Never use a big word when a diminutive equivalency will suffice"?

Have any of you seen this ad? It ran during the Democratic debates on Sinclair owned stations. Although I might agree with much of what is portrayed, I take issue with any ad, action or presentation where someone's likeness is shot, burned or killed. Unfortunately in our times now it takes this to get play as we all know well the media will not cover or expose the ills of an AOC nor help any challenger to get traction in any way. I wish we were in a more civil mature time in history where just ideas, facts, means to an ends discussions and debate could be had and votes cast based on them by the people. We live in a crazed time. |

Yeah, this ad is way over the top, SK. I don't know if the superimposed fire in the picture is supposed to be suggestive, but even if it isn't it's a very questionable thing to portray in an age of Internet disseminated ads and plenty of crazy people
The implied equivalency of socialism with the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia is absurd. The Khmer Rouge were the most vicious example of communist evil the world has never seen, whereas socialism is a nice economic theory that doesn't seem to work well in practice.
I have some personal stories regarding the Khmer Rouge (from a distant relative who survived one of those camps) that are absolutely horrid and are in no way related to socialism itself...........................Luca

It's not that I do not agree with that assessment dave its how that assessment is conveyed to the public by lesser means... shock factor works I get it but I do not like seeing peoples faces burned or cartoons w/ guns to the head etc.....

AOC is not only certifiably insane, she has some of the most destabilizing ideas I've ever heard swirling around in that otherwise empty head. Do we abolish prisons before or after we eliminate all cows, air travel, and "colonialist agriculture"?

There are likely very few people who take her seriously any longer. At this point she seems mostly to be comic relief from what otherwise passes for serious political discourse today. She’s become a symbol for everything that is silly and counterintuitive in the PC world.
She serves as a reference point. You listen to what she says and realize it’s totally ridiculous, therefore I must be sane..................Luca
