I heard this from Ricky Gervais on the "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee" series with Jerry Sienfeld. It has a few layers and I thought it would be appreciated here:
Isaac survives the holocaust as a young man and ends up living a long and wonderful life. He ends up dying close to his 90th birthday and goes straight to Heaven. His first day in Heaven, he meets God. Never at a loss for words, Isaac introduces himself as a Holocaust survivor and then promptly tells God a joke about the Holocaust. God is not amused, he looks sternly at Isaac and says "I don't find that funny". Isaac hunches his shoulders and replies "Well, I guess you had to be there".
