Via Conservative Treehouse: Lin Wood is the primary lawyer for the defamation case against those who attacked Covington High School student Nick Sandmann. As the letters notifying those who will be targeted in the lawsuit are sent, the law office of Lin Wood presents the following:
“Two weeks ago, the mainstream media, politicians, church officials, commentators, & celebrities rushed to judgment to wrongfully condemn, threaten, disparage & vilify Nick Sandmann based solely on a few seconds of an out-of-context video clip. It only takes 15 minutes to learn the truth.” Here it is:

Covington High student's legal team sues Washington Post www.foxnews.com/us/covington-high-students-legal-team-sues-washington-postAttorneys representing the Kentucky high school student involved in a confrontation that went viral on social media last month announced Tuesday that they were suing The Washington Post for $250 million in compensatory and punitive damages. The lawsuit, which was filed in federal court in Kentucky, accused The Post of practicing "a modern-day form of McCarthyism" by targeting Nicholas Sandmann and "using its vast financial resources to enter the bully pulpit by publishing a series of false and defamatory print and online articles ... to smear a young boy who was in its view an acceptable casualty in their war against the president."

This is pretty big time. Hopefully they nail the others that slammed those kids. Would be really something if this was the tipping point that pushed journalism back towards having a modicum of journalistic integrity.

@bick, I believe there are about 50 lawsuits that this attorney has said he has prepared. If they win just one or even settle for a large amount, when it hits the pocket books of a struggling industry things WILL change...... this may become the MSM's Armageddon!

They’ll settle. having worked Automobile Liability Claims for a large Insurance Company for a decade, I can assure you, the defendants know they screwed the pooch and the last thing their lawyers want is for any of them to,see the inside of a courtroom. if it does, by some chance, actually go to trial, stand by for THE biggest media smear campaign to surface against the kids.

I say settle with a few media outlets first shaming them..., then DO NOT settle with the likes and scumbags of Hollywood... make the Bill Mahers stand through a trial on tv nightly! End that douche bags career....

End that douche bags career.... I had never realized what a DB that guy is until reading a little more closely about him. I had just seen the HBO promos, and he'd seemed funny in a Dennis Miller kind of way. Boy was I wrong!

He is the poster child for ATHEISTS.

This story hit me particularly hard since Covington Catholic is an all-boys school like where I teach at Servite. The way he handled himself, I would be proud to have Nick Sandmann as a son. Not sure what else he could have done with that older man beating a drum in his face. This has to be one of the most shameful episodes of media malice and hysteria in recent history. Yes, Duke Lacrosse for the social media age. Hopefully some media members and others in the Twitter lynch mob get sued good and hard for libel. It's the only way to stop that kind of character assassination. Since you teach, you will be more aware of this than most of us. the point here is, he also has no idea what else he could have done. he is a teenaged kid confronted with an unexpected and uncomfortable situation. Us humans don’t typically become competent at making decisions until our 30’s... late 20’s at the very earliest. This kid had no idea what to do, so he stood there with that grin on his face. It was not purposeful, and not responsive in kind... it was more like a deer in the headlights than anything else. several zealots, once they were shown for the reactionaries they were, STILL wanted to criticize the kid for his reaction... and they were wrong about that, too.

Yeah, somebody pointed out that it's really something when standing still and smiling makes you a bigot.

If you think about the whole #FakeNews movement, how many times must have these outlets gotten away with this stuff that would embolden CNN to run with this story to begin with? Did they really believe no one else had phones videoing the events surrounding this? Coupled with Jussie Smollett, maybe the tide is turning back a bit toward some semblance of balanced journalism.

I am so disappointed in RPW. I really thought he had common sense. On TOB, he said "F" the Covington boys. How sad. Another knee jerk response.

My limited interaction with RPW has been quite negative. I PM'd him after my banning and in response he proceeding to post some really nasty slander about me on TOB. I wouldn't even bother with those guys. Right after the Covington incident JQP, Wabash, and Omar Bongo posted some pretty vile things on a thread called "The lesson of Sebastian Haffner", including a photo that compared the Covington boys to Hitler Youth overseeing Jews washing the pavement. Pretty sick stuff; even after the truth came out, the posts remain up to this day.
