This is a politically expedient move. Remember, once it “leaks out,” the President’s mind is already made up... all he is doing is letting us get accustomed to the idea. The expedient part of it is, Trump, a Republican who is the daily target of such intense hatred from the democrats, is about to commute (note: NOT pardon or grant clemency as the democrats have demanded previously) the sentence of a ... DEMOCRAT, and a former democrat governor of ILLINOIS. Trump ‘very strongly’ considering Blagojevich clemency: ‘Treated unbelievably unfairly’(In that Chicago Sun Times article, there is a verbatim transcript of the conversation aboard Air Force One) I have to say this is a bit of a head-scratcher, except that it resurrects how Blago tried to sell off Obama's Senate seat after the Community Organizer was off to the White House, an episode Obama would rather the public not be reminded of......which makes me think there may some evil genius involved. How's this playing in Illinois?

How's this playing in Illinois? As I have expected, Illinois is still divided over it. Downstate, which is more conservative and holds most of the “he did the crime, he does the time” crowd is against it. The politicians and most of Cook County, the dyed in the wool liberals and fair-weather friends of Blagojevich are silent, I assume, either seeing Trumps end-game or waiting with breathless anticipation for Blago to walk free (and I suspect it is the former). Since I posted my perspective about my supposed motivations of Trump on Facebook, those who have supported me in the past have turned on me, interpreting my supposition as supportive of Blagojevich... so life-as-usual for me: Right In the middle of being so cruelly misunderstood. 😄

And none of this would have been exposed had Hillary become President.

Is it me, or does he seem particularly quiet at this moment. Either that, or I've done a better job of eliminating the noise.

I do follow Twitter, and know of the 24/7 criticism of all things wrong. Other than my left / left-center leaning friends, I'm pretty much in ignore mode when it comes to the left's drivel any more. In any given week, I find myself shaking my head at something he just tweeted, but haven't really found myself doing that recently. I'm even OK with him reaching out to the Taliban. I guess Trump also believes to keep your friends close, but your enemies closer.

Not strictly on point about the President, but for those keeping up with the unhinged Madam Mayor of Chicago, Lori Lightfoot, and her ongoing feud with Senator Cruz (whom she recently forbade from using Chicago in any of his critical comments), this just in: Chicago Mayor Blames Republicans For City’s Violenceif you’ve been keeping up with this, you already know Chicago has hundreds of gun deaths in a month and it draws national or international attention because of their draconian gun control laws. My impression is Madam Mayor is, and should be embarrassed that her liberal policies, even after decades of liberal policies from previous mayors (including Rahe Emmanuel) have not only failed to resolve Chicago’s issues, but have actually exacerbated them. From the article: The article also points out Chicago has not had a Republican mayor since the early 1930s. But apart from that, is it not irrelevant from WHERE the guns come? Chicago’s politicians have a strict gun CONTROL policy in place and have had for years. If gun control works, it doesn’t matter where the gun(s) originate.

CNN is billing this as The Huge Threat to America that Trump Ignores... BUT it is billed as an opinion and not a news article, so at least there’s that. I find it remarkable that they build their case on “if” and supposition and whether opinion or news, I used to expect more from a mainline source like CNN. So, I did a little digging and turns out it was written for CNN by Peter Bergen and David Sterman. Interesting that both men are Vice Presidents at a libera think tank named New America, and Peter Bergen also works for CNN as a “National Security Analyst.” So I’m immediately mindful that someone might be producing news (Er, I mean, “opinion”) to feather his own nest. But, then, I read the article. Just one example of the manipulation throughout the article, it starts off talking about the attack in the El Paso Walmart with: So the beginning of the article assumes attacks are by right wing terrorists, and continues this assumption throughout the article. But further into the article, the equivocate with: WHAT? ? IF[/i] the investigation proves? They spent several paragraphs assuming El Paso WAS a right wing terrorist, now they finally acknowledge they don’t know. An aside: I also note CNN/New America perpetuate the myth that Trump incites violence with a throw off line, SO, I was original,y posting this here as a pro or con of President Trump... but now I think I shouldn’t have been reading CNN in the first place... and I’ve spent too much time on it to erase everything, now.

CNN is beyond parody. If they want to hype the threat to America by gun violence in a political context, they should simply count the victims of ALL GUN SHOOTINGS in America over the past year and tie that to the likely political leanings of the shooters. Deaths by handguns in Chicago alone would tilt the threat heavily to the Left.

No one should ever think that the hypocrisy of the left knows any limits. It doesn't, and this is just another example.
I remember numerous times on TOB when I would consistently refer to those radical Islamic terrorists who carried out terrorist acts in America and other countries as "radical Islamist terrorists." Immediately, the usual suspects, most notably Omar Bongo, would attack me for using that term, insisting that terrorists are terrorists, and being more specific than that was an affront to Muslims. I assume they meant radical jihadist Muslims as well.
But now, they insist on referring to those who carry out domestic mass shootings as "white nationalists", "white supremacists" and "far-right radicals", often before the shooters have been identified as such. I guess a shooter being white is evidence enough that they are neo-Nazis. So they have flipped from insisting on anonymity for radical Muslim terrorists by using broader, more vague terms, while immediately and often prematurely branding "white nationalist" terrorists as specifically as they can.
The left has become a joke, if only they were funnier.
