Dickerson...ok.
Thumbs down on Smith. Product of a great offense.

We can agree to disagree but running through many a Top 10 NFL RB list Emmitt is in the top 5 more times than not. I don't like these kind of lists much any how, I mean in their or the day were guys like "The Bus", Dorsett, Marcus Allen, Thurman Thomas, Jim Taylor, Csonka or Riggins unstoppable?

I should have included Eric Dickerson and Tony Dorsett on my original list. But, yes, these kinds of lists simply generate discussion with no way to have consensus because it's largely subjective. Are we talking about sustained longevity or who burned brightest for at least 4-5 years?
If I had to choose who I'd pay the most to see, with the hope he might break some spectacular runs, I'd probably go with Gale Sayers or Barry Sanders.

I think I could get behind the Broncos if they went back to their classic look. (48 more posts 'till we get to the 1,000 mark!)

Are we talking about sustained longevity or who burned brightest for at least 4-5 years? We're talking about who should be on Mt. Rushmore. Of course it's subjective, that's what makes it interesting.

Barry Sanders, Jim Brown, Walter Payton, and this guy--who, along with Brown, I never got to watch in his day:

Yeah, he was pretty good, but there's not a lot of glory in blocking a white guy's hook shot...or layup...or whatever the hell that is.

If we’re talking about peak performance only I think the best running back I ever saw was Earl Campbell, although he didn’t last long enough to be considered the best ever.
I know a girl who works at the University of Texas athletic department who told me that one day she was working out in the athlete’s gym and saw all these people huddling around a guy in a wheelchair, showing him how to do some lifting while in the chair. It was a Earl Campbell. The guy can’t walk anymore because of his knees
...................This got me to thinking. Often coaches will bring in legendary players from a school's past to give the team a pep talk and tell them how important the game is and you only get one chance and "These are the best years your life" etc. etc. I'm not so sure how effective it would be to bring in a guy in in a wheelchair to exhort your guys that "Ya' gotta' give it yer all."....................................Luca

Joel Embid is supposed to be a good center in today's NBA, but I say they don't make 'em like they used to...
