Am I the only one who thinks Mission Viejo is way overrated this year? It seems like they're top 5 in every poll out there but I'm not convinced. Costelli didn't necessarily kill it for SM last year (and only a 53 QBR last weekend). They have two good receivers in Nenad and Anderson. They have a great D line, a solid LB (Mascarenas) but the DB corps is a little suspect, right? They won in Hawaii but Konawaena is not exactly St. Louis or Kahuku.

MV Juniors were 10-0 as freshman, Tesoro Sr's were 10-0 and smoked MV, Costelli is Jr., way behind previous MV QB's in terms of reads and knowledge of the game. MV could be overrated, but honestly we won't really know until we get to see them against SM who is underrated this year IMHO.
MV Oline is better than good, they're D front 7 could be the best in OC...we'll see. The secondary needs a lot of work. They do not have any stand out stars. So means a lot work, lot's of film, and they got to develop some talent.
All the polls are suspect this early so things should be clearer in a few weeks...who thought SJH would keep it with in 6 against Olu.
If MV can bring pressure they will mitigate their weakness in the secondary and hopefully come play offs will figure out the schemes that give them the most opportunity.
Costelli's speed will create some problems for opposing D, the RB for MV is a Jaquez Robertson and he is a capable back and runs hard, with big O line he should put up some yards, as mentioned you have Nenad and Anderson and TE Roelen so they have the tools...
I expect MV to get significantly better as the season progress's may stumble in the run up to league but they will cause problems assuming they make the play offs...but they are going to be challenged by Tesoro and San Clemente no doubt...not to mention they have SM, LH, VP, St. Mary's, and Upland.
Rankings at this point are pretty meaningless, what I would love to see is JS vs. MV...and that may be the only way to sort it out...

MV's offensive unit is definitely overrated but their defense is outstanding. As an SM fan I could not be prouder of the fight the Eagles put up in their game against MV. Once Colt Fulton went down in their second series of the game they had zero chance to score on offense running against MV's outstanding D Line or having an inexperienced sophomore QB throwing the ball. SM's coaching staff made halftime adjustments that completely shutdown MV's offense in the second half. Disappointing to see Costelli still struggling at QB. He has some of the best receivers in the county but just can't get it going. Nenad has a total of four receptions and zero TDs in two games. Good luck getting better offers with those stats. I guess running up stats against a weak league will be impressive on paper. It makes me question how good this SM team could have been if they had not been deserted by their teammates that ran off to greener pastures at Jserra and MV. So much for loyalty and the brotherhood of teammates. For those players that remained you all will be much stronger for having the guts to fight through difficult times.
MV's D Line is definitely an impressive group but in my opinion the best D Lineman on the field was SM's Derek Wilkins. By the end of this season he will have the most D1 offers of all the D Lineman on the field in this game. It was also good to see Jack Del Rio still hanging out with the SM team while he waits for the USC job to open up.

Now that prediction didn't take long. After Derek Wilkins outstanding performance against MV he picked up offers today from Arizona State and Oregon State. There will be more. I guess you don't need to desert your teammates in order to pick up PAC 12 offers.
