I missed where he was offered Missed? UCLA/PreferredWalkOn is what I hear..... guaranteed roster spot. We had a kid pass on a scholly at a FCS school to walk on at UCLA also. Rarely saw the field.

Bradley is a smart kid, I am 100% positive that he is 110% he is making the right decision. He had a stellar high school career and in my opinion was CDM's real MVP. There is no one I can think of that works harder and no better team mate. In the right system he should do well. His size has always been presented as his limitation, he has handled that to date pretty well. Mostly however, the kid had a dream, to play NCAA D1 football, he, unlike most, is still in pursuit of it. CDM had another recent walk on at UCLA whom earned a scholly in his Junior year as a Bruin. uclabruins.com/sports/football/roster/giovanni-gentosi/5455All one can work for and ask is..... for a chance.

Wasn't trying to be that. I just know he's someone who should play, and have been on record as being in his corner. PWO's at Power 5 schools face long odds of seeing any real playing time,as each year, 20 new scholly players will jump in front in terms of opportunities.

Correct Bick, the entire next step from high school to collegiate ball can be considered tough odds for most. I can only attest to this, that at CDM it was work from the bottom up not the top down, the character and fight in Schlom will be an asset, he was on a special team with special guys, he held his own....
There are a lot of great comments coming to from fellow players, HSF coaches, recruiting analysts etc.... one I just caught from fellow Bruin Logan Loya, another guy that knows what it takes for a guy considered too undersized....

The undersized guys get more opportunities at smaller schools. When they excel, they're the next Julian Edelman or Andy Isabella.
Would be a bummer if he doesn't get them.

He has the cred., the presence, work ethic, everything you want in a player and team mate. Coach Kelley spent a lot of time at CDM trying to get the Big 3 to no avail. Kelley stayed to the media it was players like the type Coach O Shea produces is what he is looking for. Bradley is one of those guys.
Wes Walker 5’8” 185 undrafted, Danny Amandola 5’11” 185 undrafted, Edelman of course 5’10” 195. Bradley is in this mold at 5’11 180 and runs a 4.5 40 yard. That’s on par with the previous mentioned pros and faster than the 4.6 Loya.
Yes it would be a bummer if he didn’t find a slot, no pun intended. Many thought he wouldn’t get one at MD, many said he would be an after thought And over shadowed with the receiving talent at CDM. He found that slot, looking forward to seeing what is next.

At the time, it looked like Bradley was going to be buried in the MD depth chart and wouldn't have been able to put up the numbers or have enough film to get any looks. Hence his move to CDM. Being at CDM allowed him to showcase/display his skill enough to get the preferred walk-on. With that said, even with the year he had this past season he would have been MDs 4th WR at best.

Agree, at the time, and the move was likely beneficial for him in that regard. However, strictly on the offensive side of the ball of all the schools he could have gone to, outside the fact he was from Newport Beach, he went to the next best team in that regard in Orange County and honestly the completion at the receiver spots was equal to MD. That said, attending the CIF Championship game SJB/MD and watching another slot type receiver in Logan Loya at 5'11 170lb simply TORCH MD for 10 catches and 164 yards....... maybe you (MD) should have tried to keep the slot guy from Newport!

so PWO is a guaranteed roster spot? Can travel for road games? Get fed what the scholarship guys get?
So basically, you dont get any of the education paid for until you earn a scholarship?
Justin Williams for Tesoro just accepted a PWO to UCLA as well. Could have gone to Columbia. Perhaps his family is well off so going to UCLA was probably cheaper.
Had an offer from SDSU. I would have told my kid to accept a PWO to UCLA over getting a scholly at SDSU.

Strange logic. How would Mater Dei's keeping "the slot guy from Newport" have prevented Logan Loya from getting ten catches for 164 yards?

I would have told my kid to accept a PWO to UCLA over getting a scholly at SDSU. I think family finances play a big role in that advice. Including tuition, room and board, books and supplies, it costs about $35,500 a year to attend UCLA. For a family that can't afford that $3K a month, the free ride to San Diego State has to very appealing.

Ride the undersized second option players! Have to admit, according to you, nice "POACH" by CDM and according to Biggins a " STEAL" by UCLA!

I'd gladly pay it to have my kid get a UCLA education over a SDSU one. I see Sepulona has PWO offers from Oregon and UW. I could see him taking a New Mexico offer (just as an example) over Oregon or UW PWO due to finances.

Loya looks more well put together than Schlom. "Thicker." I could be wrong.
What's Schlom? 6' 175?

Can't be sure, too close to call... for what its worth, I've seen both guys listed at various sites, between 5'10.5" to 5'11.5" for LL and about the same for BS. Both seem to average on those sites between 170-185. My personal take is Schlom has always been super lean, he runs track. Has worked on his speed game well, came into CDM clocking 4.9 for the 40 and as a senior hit 4.5, looked up the same for LL and see some 4.6's on record. Bradley is a beast at practice, game mind, and I have no doubt you are correct he will take the UCLA challenge head on as opposed to a San Jose or SD State situation. He is that kind of a kid, he believes he belongs until further notice.
