The games I covered are still available on portal.stretchinternet,com. The playoff game I co-announced was in November when our local Tri Valley HS took on Decatur’s St Teresa HS. Once we got all the commercials out of the way, our coverage starts about the 4:30 mark... portal.stretchinternet.com/wjbc/portal.htm?eventId=488234&streamType=audioGo to to the On Demand tab, and around June 24 or so, 2017, I did play by play for our local baseball team, the Cornbelters.

Great guy over at Stretch in Ryan Ermeling. Are you the PBP or the color? I’m the new guy, so they only let me do color... which was difficult because there were times my partner commented on a play that hadn’t been on the field.., But, he’s done this for years and I know how to be a good partner. Besides, the folks at home didn’t know he’d miss-called. For the baseball games, I was the play-by-play, but they gave me a college intern who thought he should be. He continually tried to undermine and sabotage me.

While Dave and I will never be confused with Dick Enberg or Vin Scully, it's really a fun, rewarding hobby doing local games and enhancing memories for the kids and their families.
We've been fortunate in SoCal to have had some great radio guys over the years. Not much better than listening to Vin Scully on my old transitor radio to catch the final 3 innings before falling asleep growing up.

The guy that does color w/ me was a teammate of my boy @ Cypress on the '03-06 teams. It's been a blast having him, and the old guy / young guy thing seems to work out OK based on the occasional feedback we get.

Most of the time, listeners have no idea how old I am... which I found very much to my advantage as I narrated training videos for my former employer. the sports director for whom I work (in the HS football games and those professional baseball games) has a great voice and calls the play-by-play as well as almost anyone I’ve heard... but if you passed him on the street, you’d no more connect his radio voice to his physical stature than the man in the moon.

I’m trying to work an angle on the new owners of our local, now, collegiate summer league team, the Cornbelters. In 2017, I got to announce several of their baseball games for our local radio station and it was a blast, even having to put up with that childish summer intern who thought he was all-that, and should have been given my job... For the 2018 season, I talked to the stations Sports Director AND the teams GM about coming aboard again, but for some reason, the GM decided broadcasting games cost too much (which neither I nor the Sports Director understood). So, thinking to set myself up for this season, I researched and presented a proposal for audio streaming (with an option to include video at some point) games, use me as a broadcast “coordinator,” and work out a summer internship with the communications department of a local (as in “right next door”) community college. Small expense for my salary, small expense for the streaming platform, so I thought it couldn’t miss. Then, the team was bought by the Prospect League, became a Summer wood bat collegiate team, and the GM was replaced... AND the prospect league has its own Stretch Internet TV streaming channel. I am currently reaching out to the new owners, but I’m not holding out a lot of hope.

Good grief. I couldn't think of a better compliment for a dominant player. King Kong is monstrous.
Looks like I'd better come up with something other than "beastly" when a kid makes a very physical play.
