Can't we just summarize the whole climate change/ocean levels issue as follows: 1. The climate is changing. It always has and it always will. 2. The polar ice caps and glaciers are growing or shrinking. They always have and they always will. 3. As a result of #2, the ocean levels are rising or falling. They always have and they always will. 4. Mankind is probably contributing to the current changes. 5. We have no clue how much or how little. As long as the whole issue continues to be politiciized by the Left, I will remain skeptical as to their claims and their proposed solutions. And might not the scientific "consensus" be influence by its own particular incentives for continued attention, grant money, job security, peer pressure, and social pressure to uphold the established narrative? |

This opinion piece from the Hill highlights conflicting views of the man-made aspect of global warming by Exxon and Mobil before they merged, and how their position on the debate is being cast as a lie. I thought these were particularly interesting observations of AEI of climate assessment. I had forgotten about Mr Spock telling us hell was about to freeze over back in the late 70's when the experts had concluded the newest ice age was upon us.

A bagillion years ago, when I was in the Navy, we were WAY more concerned about all the white men being conscious or unconscious racists than we were about recycling or proper disposition of our trash. It was not uncommon for a foodie to throw a bag over the side as long as we were way out to sea. My assumption is, most Naval ships in the U.S. Navy did the same, most naval ships of other countries were even less discreet, and pretty much all non-military boats and ships were downright indiscriminate.
We should be the ones (the United States, I mean) to take the lead of dispatching that garbage Island floating out there. I would think we certainly have the tools and technology to do it...

So...where did all the water go? With those shark teeth being found, have to assume oceans were that high. Water was not that high. the California coastal hills and valleys were likely formed by tectonic plates moving. As the (Anaheim) Hills rose, the water was drained into ... Huntington Beach or maybe Laguna. |
