Sunset league title on the line for Los Al, and the #1 seed in D3 for CDM. They'll be 5 TD favorites v. the Griffins.
CDM defense is out of the spotlight with all the glare on the Big 3 on offense, but I think they could be D3 championship level. Offense certainly is.
Griffins will need to play a game they haven't yet played this year to keep this one close. Have to hang onto the ball, and it hasn't happened yet. Not likely to put up the nearly 500 we did on the ground a couple weeks ago at Davidson, but we'll need to be able to run to make it a game. The way we looked v. HB not exactly an inspiring effort.

Bick, how the heck do yo explain that? 44-3 against NH yet a somewhat close contest against HB which is not nearly as good as NH. Surprised at the inconsistent play at LA this season. NH hung for a quarter as they got some first downs (surprise to me!). I can tell you its been a tough week at CDM. Coach O' Shea's mother passed last week and the funeral was on Friday afternoon before the Battle of the Bay. Many thought he would not be at the game. CDM also lost another 2019 student/athlete in a tragic accident, the second this year. CDM starting defensive back for the 2019 Varsity team Jack Elliott drowned on October 14th 2019 in a boating accident on Lake Travis in Texas. Jack was a freshman at TCU. His body was discovered on October 24th 2019. It was a tough week at CDM to say the least. I didn't want to bring attention at the time to these stories but I can ask for prayers for those now gone. Amen. Attachments:

Eternal rest grant unto them , O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them . May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen

FWIW, HB had 31 yds total offense at halftime. I suspect you might have a few yards more on Friday.

Only a duel for about 14 minutes. The rest was an assassination.
Congrats to CDM. That was a legit ass whipping tonight.

Only a duel for about 14 minutes. The rest was an assassination. Congrats to CDM. That was a legit ass whipping tonight. Thank you Bick, hope it didn't bitter that nice bottle of whiskey you bought before the game! Actually it wasn't all that, CDM was just "off". Garbers had too many balls sail on him last night, it was an off night for him with 5 TD passes! “We were just a little out of sync, When you can still score like that and be out of sync, I think it shows what these kids are capable of, but we were not clicking tonight. Los Al did a nice job, and their kids held up in some man coverage. It was a funky night." ~ CDM OC Kevin Hettig
"“We have a hard time staying patient sometimes, I think that hurt us a little bit tonight. We still felt confident, even though we punted a couple of times in the first half. We still felt confident enough to let it rip … I mean, shoot, if we can be out of sync and still run the clock on Los Al, we’re happy.” ~ CDM Head Coach Dan ' Shea
Running clock. CDM forced the running clock in every Sunset League game this season. They scored at least 42 points in every game most of that in just 3 quarters. Only against Newport Harbor did they tag another score in a fourth quarter to a blowout game. (Of course I am OK with that ) These Sunset games were over at the half. 49-6, 42-7, 42-7, 56-17, 48-14. What doesn't get talked about however is the defense. Last night again the CDM defense manhandled their opponent. Los Al leading rusher Mitchell 11 carries just 25 yards. Los Al QB McConnell 5-13-2 INT, 92 yards, 1 TD. If you can't get a 100 yards through the air or on the ground you won't win many football games. While CDM's offense gets all the local, state and national attention, it's the defense that is playing in lock down mode. "SUNSET LEAGUE CHAMPIONS", that sounds real nice! They all said it couldn't be done, it would be all over when you leave the Pacific Coast League. Looking at the scores, running clocks over the years..., not much changed! I'll pull in the reigns now, before I appears as if I gloat and get labeled a "homer".! I'll turn the rest of last nights story over to the LA Times..., Corona del Mar football routs Los Alamitos, clinches outright Sunset League title www.latimes.com/socal/daily-pilot/sports/story/2019-11-01/corona-del-mar-football-routs-los-alamitos-clinches-outright-sunset-league-title

The Corona del Mar High football team finished a perfect regular season Friday, and in many ways a perfect Sunset League campaign.
The Sea Kings had a lead of 35 or more points in the fourth quarter of all five of their league games, meaning a running clock would be in effect.
Los Alamitos was the latest victim, and even on a night when the CdM offense wasn’t its sharpest, the result was still a blowout victory.
"Even running at less than peak efficiency, the offense is tough to stop. We like being frustrated with 48 [points],” O’Shea said. “That keeps us hungry. That’s a compliment to our expectations, it really is.”

Wish you would've stopped by to say hi. Would've been nice to meet you.
You're passing stats are off though. McConnell played the first half, Nelson the 2nd. They combined for 11/24/172/2/2...not as though that's any great shakes. Backs rotated also, and those #'s were higher.
That said, you're defense is very good, and gets over-shadowed by the offense. Good experience for our freshmen to go up against some legit D1 WR's in Humphreys and Redman, and having a D1 QB throwing to them.
Maybe an off night for Garbers, but it seemed the receivers were the ones making the plays more so than the QB making good throws.
Big difference between the consistency of seniors, and the occasional flash of freshmen. CDM seems to have the perfect storm of talent and experience, and should take the division title as well. Best of success to you guys.
