If you do, what's your suggestion to ensure only those eligible to vote are actually the ones voting?

That's an interesting story about Ms. Rethel Frank. I have to assume she's a homeless person, because if she owns or rents a home, she has a photo ID. If she cashes checks or takes prescription meds, she has a photo ID. If she owns or drives a car, she has a photo ID. If she has a bank account, she has a photo ID. If she's on welfare, food stamps, Medicaid or social security, she has a photo ID.
And it's not like a baptismal certificate has a photo on it.

I have to assume you don't know what you're talking about. You seriously can't think of a scenario where she lives in a home she owns without first having to apply for a mortgage?
I think that was rather the point...she couldn't get an ID because they wouldn't accept the certificate as ID.

Absent any serous issues with in-person voter fraud I'd say the current system(s) seem to be working just fine. We could probably be doing a better job of getting dead people off the voter rolls, but honestly here in Philly my big problem was registering to vote.
It seems to me that checking your identity at the polls is all about verifying your eligibility to vote in that place, as opposed to your overall eligibility. Let me ask you this...what's to stop someone from getting multiple voter ID's and then voting numerous times?
Doesn't in-person voter fraud seem to you to be a very cumbersome way to illegally affect the outcome of an election? Isn't this like the stupidest way to try to protect our elections?

Actually it's from an article I posted from NPR. I'm guessing you didn't read it. From the article I posted: I think the first thing to look at is to look at who actually drives. The most common form of government-issued ID are driver's licenses and so the people who are most unlikely to drive, as it is, is elderly, the poor, people who live in big cities, like African-Americans, especially young people, too, especially if they attend college. They may not have need for a car at the moment.
And then people who are in rural areas. The other challenge for them is they are not near the Department of Motor Vehicles offices, etc., etc. where you would get these IDs.MARTIN: And you met a voter like that. Would you tell us about her?
DADE: I did. I talked with Rethel Frank(ph). She's 84 years old. She lives in Brokaw, Wisconsin, and she has an interesting story because she typifies what many seniors are experiencing. Many of them never had birth certificates to begin with, and if they did, they were incorrectly - their names were incorrectly put onto these documents. And if that's the case, then you're not going to get an ID. They will not accept discrepancies between your birth certificate and other forms of ID that you may have, like a Social Security card and those kinds of things.
MARTIN: And so you - what did she tell you?
DADE: Well, let's listen to what she had to say when I interviewed her.
RETHEL FRANK: I laid my baptismal certificate on top of the counter because I figured that all the information that they would need would be on that baptismal certificate and she looked at me and she said, well, this is illegal. I could have cried.It is irrelevant where that statement comes from, it is still racist. Marching out ONE example of some 86 year old woman who wouldn't be able to vote because she doesn't have ID is disingenuous. You don't make policy based on some nitwit who hasn't had a picture ID for 86 years, you base it on what produces the most fair results Constitutionally. There are millions more people who are abusing the current voting system than people who can't figure out how to get a photo ID, |

My two youngest kids haven't lived at home with us for over six years. Yet the government still sent their ballots to our house. We have told them over and over that the kids don't live in the state anymore. Finally, this year, our daughter's ballot did not show up, but our son's still did. If we weren't honorable people, my wife and I could have voted twice each for years. No one would have known until someone did a thorough investigation, like the one Kris Kobach led recently (with little cooperation from the blue states) which caused tens of thousands of people to request that their names be removed from the voter rolls. |

You quoted RSM's absurd claim that "millions" of people are "abusing the current voting system" and then you posted nothing to support what he claimed...what are you saying "exactly" to?
Where is the evidence of this widespread abuse?

After-all, we don't bother enforcing our immigration "Laws" ... If you do, what's your suggestion to ensure only those eligible to vote are actually the ones voting? Voter ID. Simple. |

I promise you, giving out the IDs to illegals is 1) Done by democrats and other liberals and 2) SO THAT THEY CAN vote, and for no other reason. with same-day voter registration, and no voter ID required (some jurisdictions even allow a gas or electrical bill in the registrants name), these illegals can then be bussed from polling place to polling place to vote repeatedly. cheating is the only way liberal zealots can win elections. |
