Enough threads have been created to warrant a distinct section, and Sports seems to be a clear one to separate. If or once this gets populated with enough topics (not sure what that number is), we can evaluate adding further delineation. I'm not inclined to do much else to separate main subjects at this time for the sake of simplicity of searching old threads. Besides, many topics cross multiple would be delineators.
That said, feedback is a gift. Feel free to impart some.

You are clearly putting a lot of work into this, Bick. It's really coming along. I love it.

Well thanks Prof. Was actually fishing for critical feedback to make this better. Thanks for the compliment, but you guys are the ones that are making this all work. With this group, Debate with integrity seems to be appreciated amongst us all.

Question, this will now mimic what we came from as far as lets say layout or the separate "high school" and politics over at TOB. So are we open to anyone whom finds this "sports" forum and just signs up? And if we grow the sports forum with sports posters are they just going to jump the other side and start their leftist diatribes? How are we controlling all this? @bick are you even going to control that? Personally I would be looking for a bigger participation on a sports forum like High School Sports and would not look forward to the political board becoming what it was over at TOB. There was a reason I did not post on the other side of JQP's domain. If we did end up mirroring that I would consider using two different screen names here. I don't want people hating on my team, my sport takes based on my political ideology.

I don't want people hating on my team, my sport takes based on my political ideology. Those are interesting points you bring up. I hadn't much thought about those what if's. I don't think anyone here would be interested in becoming yet another version of a Ken L Ration theme, so I'm guessing I'd reach out privately to a few of you here if there was movement in the direction of what you described. Hopefully I won't have to as I have a phobia of the word "control" - especially as it relates to human behavior or the climate. So long as we can all maintain a sense of being hard on the issue, but easy on the person, I think we'll be OK. I also believe most here can spot a troll eventually. If after getting feedback from the group we decide someone isn't really a fit here, I'd likely suggest an alternative place for that person to engage. That said, this board wasn't intended to be in competition with JQP's board. There's over 2k members there - we've got 12 here. That community started as a result of the OC Varsity shutting their's down. This was a result of guys with similar core values wanting a place to have conversations without the noise. The division of Sports into its own forum is just to make it easier to see some sports stuff if interested. So far, the topics are more general in nature with some pretty cool walks down memory lane both in the Sports, and the General forum.

So will you still be a major contributor to say the Sunset League D2/D3 threads etc?

As much as I enjoy that thread, it's hard for me to support someone who uses authority arbitrarily, or inappropriately. I'm leaning towards no.

This forum was started largely as a boycott of TOB. Coach has already caved in and returned there to taste the sour milk, but why would anyone else, when there have been no changes to make it more inviting?

Again I simply speak from the sports side of TOB. I was actually not aware of any of this political angst and frustration going on over there. I may have read that part of JQP's site a couple times and posted maybe twice in the last year or so. After Credo gave me the heads up I did watch that side for a few days and then I realized what a sh*t show it was. So I chimed in on a SOTU thread or pasting and refuted what a few of them claimed as it was a failure. It was that one rebuttal that I put up and Credo saw it thinking maybe I saw the world from a different viewpoint than they did thus asking to send me an invite. So I never really had a beef and I do find the reach of sports posters over there greater than anywhere else I know. I gave up on rivals as it became an IE dominant self righteous board.
I would hate to see some of the guys I carry on with about football and such end because we do not vote for the same President. That's why I do not often discuss my faith or ideology much with others.
When I first came on here it was a bit refreshing however to see those whom had a more balanced approach to discussing politics and yes MDDad I hope we do not become a bash the left sound board. I know that is easy and hard to refrain from. But as Bick says I think we have a more respectful group here and how to speak with others. TOB does not.

In fairness SK80, I don't think political persuasion adds a bias to sports discussion. Even though I support much of what his platform is about, I didn't vote for Trump. The only guy from the political side that gave me any grief on the sports side was Bongo, and that was just recently. I think it's just his nature to be argumentative - well with me anyway. He probably finds me the same way.
The only guys I really engage with primarily on the HS side are already here. Tommy Trojan, HTL, Zebra and Sixth Man are some others.

Bongo still hasn't posted since the wee hours of the morning Jan 21. He was a troll, and now has no one to insult. Or maybe his work is done, now that we all left. Perhaps his only purpose on TOB?

Yeah, Omar's a weird case and kind of surprises me. He checked in again four days ago at one in the morning, but he never posts. Probably just wants to see if there's anyone he can rag on. Either that, or he's secretly one of us.

Either that, or he's secretly one of us. Based on his posts on the political side alone, if he was one of us he's a better faker than Jussie Smollet! Is Omar a Mater Dei grad? He'd have to be based on his Monarch partisanship.

Feedback? You want feedback? O.K., here’s some...
I don’t know this ProBoards platform, so I’m not sure how possible this is, but other communities (including TOB) have a folder hierarchy that collates threads under topic headings like “U.S.Politics” and “The Economy” (etc), or “High School Sports” and “Major League Baseball.”
They also have an interface that shows the user all threads with new posts (since the last time he or she was in)...
I only find these convenient because I’ve grown a customed to them, not because they are “the right way to do it.” So take all this with a grain of salt.
Just suggestions.
