Servite dropped the Loyola match 3-1. The Friars squandered a 15-9 lead in Game 1 to lose 25-22; couldn't make up the difference after that. Trinity League begins today vs. Mater Dei.

I believe Servite entered league play with a 10-10 record, or thereabouts. They've swept all five matches 3 games to none. Can they do as well in the second round?

Barring multiple injuries, there's no reason they shouldn't sweep Trinity League play. The reason they had so many losses in preseason was from playing a brutally tough schedule against pretty much all the top area teams.

Now now Credo..., they played an easy non league schedule up until the Sunset League teams which they lost every game to going 0-4. The Sunset League is probably the nations toughest top to bottom.

I think that's what I was trying to get at--not a brag. We had losses to the Sunset League teams, plus Palos Verdes, Mira Costa, and Loyola. Don't know the other losses. I guarantee we win Trinity League, though volleyball is one of the handful of sports where Trinity is NOT the best league in SoCal. Getting to the quarters in the D-1 playoffs would be tough but possible, and would likely be considered a success. CDM remains the class of the Southern Section.

Servite makes quick work of the Monarchs in Mater Dei's gym, sweeping again by 25-19, 25-20, and 25-23. Servite is now 6-0 in the Trinity League winning every game in every match, 18-0.

And down goes J Serra 3 games to 0. Servite is now 7-0 in Trinity League play winning all 21 games played. Only Santa Margarita seems to be a threat to the Friars perfect league record, as the three games in their last meeting were by 2pts., 2 pts., and 3 pts. They meet again, at Servite @ 5:30 this coming Wednesday.

5-game loss at home tonight prevents Servite from clinching the Trinity League. Now 7-1 in league.

Apparently, our reward for winning Trinity League is a first round road game against Huntington Beach. Tough draw.
