Correction: Servite will be hosting H.B on Tuesday.

"CdM and NH must be engaging in some sketchy recruiting to be this good...." Nope, that would be Loyola! CdM even recruits from an offshore island---"Balboa"---I think it's called. I hear they even run a ferry to and from the Newport peninsula for those volleyball kids. And we get accused of unfairly employing a mere van pool!

Ahhhhh, you have exposed our academic and athletic deceit! Next you will be making accusations that Costa Mesa and Newport families break through the Newport Mesa-CDM great wall claiming asylum leaving us no way under present law to send them back to their homes, you will likely claim however there are cases when these children of these less fortunate families have kids whom can contribute to Sea King life we grant them CDM citizenship. Thnx Credo for starting a witch hunt, faux investigation and mere #FakeNews.

Sorry Credo, HB is tough..... not a good day for Friars in the CIF Lacrosse opening game either Yes, we were taken out in the LAX playoffs by Yorba Linda H.S. And Thursday could see a quick exit in baseball--though I have confidence we can upset Cypress. Just goes to show that--outside of football--the best public school programs still hold sway in most sports.

This is the 6'4" frosh WR who broke his collarbone against Mater Dei. Also was the best athlete on the varsity basketball team. The Fifita-to-McMillan connection could be a special one over the next few years. We also had three kids 1st Team All-Trinity League and two others on the 2nd Team.

Prediction: T-Mac will be 1st Team All Trinity-League this year in volleyball--to go along with his all-league selection in football. I don't know if that's ever happened before.

As expected a thriller and epic opening match to start the season against two of the best programs in the nation...., Corona del Mar def. Loyola 21-25, 29-27, 21-25, 25-23, 15-8
CdM:Premer 20 kills, 3 aces.

FEB. 26, 2020 9:46 PM A match against a perennial championship contender may not have been the ideal way for the Corona del Mar High boys’ volleyball team to ease into its season.
Then again, once they thought about it some more, there were few things that could get the Sea Kings more excited about starting the season than opening against Los Angeles Loyola.
Senior outside hitter Shane Premer had 20 kills, three service aces and 2½ blocks to lead the host Sea Kings past the Cubs 21-25, 29-27, 21-25, 25-23, 15-8 on Wednesday night in a season opener.
“That was something when we saw our schedule, we were all a little surprised, but then we wanted it because they’re always a good team, and it’s always fun to play those guys,” Premer said. “Going down [after] that first set, we weren’t really sure if we were ready for this kind of competition. We’ve been playing with these guys forever, and we know how to fight back.”

Any time you win a tournament in Boys HS Volleyball with Newport Harbor, Laguna Beach, Huntington Beach, Loyola in the mix..., looks like it's gonna be a good season....

Closer match than was probably expected at CDM. Servite now ranked #13 in the latest CIF D1/2 poll.
