I was 19 years old, bowling in a Monday night league while the Championship game was on in a bar inside Linbrook Bowl. We kept peeking in, amazed that Houston hadn't run away with the game. I remember watching the end with Charles dunking the putback and thinking "that didn't just happen".
For the 1985 title game, I distinctly remember watching the 2nd half over at my moms house. Villanova went something like 14 of 15 from the field in the 2nd half, they just didn't miss. When asked if there was anything Villanova wasn't doing well in the 2nd half, one of the announcers said "Well, they don't have many offensive rebounds..."

I liked the Phi Slamma Jamma Cougars and was disappointed when they lost consecutive title games to NC State and then Georgetown. But those were great years for college basketball.

Didn't most colleges require (demand) Covid & Booster Vaccines?

It could have been from that, after all the vaccine loaded the body up with spike proteins. I also suspect the virus in some cases too. That virus should not have happened. They need to stop this type of research. I know people are making money from it, but they need to do something else.

......Tired and just killing time before the end of the day and I see........." A day that will live in infamy." Such painful memories. I went to Georgetown and was fascinated with the team since Patrick Ewing had arrived. He was a monster and John Thompson walked on water in Washington DC. My Hoyas had beaten Villanova soundly twice in the regular season, maybe three times. I can't remember but they weren't particularly close. I think Georgetown was ranked #1 for most of the season. They get to the goddamn finals and with obvious divine intervention Villanova shoots something like 90% for the game. They didn't even have to challenge Ewing inside since every fornicating Hail Mary they threw up was nothing but net. And it was still a close game. God has a morbid sense of humor. This reminds me that I have a timeless painting in one of my kids' rooms. It's the 1982 NCAA Georgetown - North Carolina championship game when Ewing was a freshman. The painting is taken from an actual photograph and shows James Worthy driving to the hoop while Patrick Ewing goes for the block with Eric "Sleepy" Floyd and Sam Perkins waiting for the rebound. In the background watching is Michael Jordan. I'm not sure there has ever been another college basketball game with that much talent on the court at one time: three NBA Hall of Famers and two with long, successful NBA careers, all of them first round draft choices (two #1 draft choices, a #3, a #4 and a #13)..........................Luca
