Not to mention Patsy Cline, Buddy Holly, John Denver, Jim Croce, Otis Redding, Ricky Nelson and most of Lynyrd Skynyrd. It's eerie how plane crashes have claimed so many athletes and singers. And yet they say flying is the safest way to travel.

And yet they say flying is the safest way to travel. I have little if any fear of flying.... in planes. However I have never been comfortable with the idea of flight by helicopter. I don't know the statistics nor do I care, it's just a feeling. The same one I have about driving on our roads, in a car I have little if any concerns about safety or lack of in my automobile, yet overtime I see a motorcycle on the street I simply think "just a matter of time", one blip away from disaster. Helicopters to planes, motorcycles to cars, it's just a gut feeling about probability..... In the end, like those listed above, ones fame or wealth afforded them a life of higher risk? How many kids, coaches in jr. athletics are arriving on game day in a private escorted helicopter? In Kobe's hectic life of FAME in which he had little time, he afforded himself fatherhood, a family life but cutting the corners on what most endure in daily life, travel. This FAME brought him FORTUNE in which afforded him that helicopter ride that FATEFUL day.

I have not really digested all this just yet as some may know that this hit our community in a much different way, yes the world loved and idolized Kobe, BUT CDM and Newport lost family.
Last nights Boys Basketball "BATTLE of the BAY"......
