So yes, Mike Trout, despite all his talent, is not the greatest player in the game right now. Then who is? Jesus, RSM, I think you've gone completely off the rails trying to defend your position. There are 30 major league general managers and a couple hundred sports writers who would laugh you off the internet if they read that. In his eight full seasons, Trout has won three MVP awards and finished second four other times. His stats and year-over-year consistency are better than anyone else in the game by a large margin. That's accomplishment, not potential. He is universally regarded as the best player in the game by virtually everyone but you. The fact that he can't "lead" a team of minor leaguers with no starting pitching to a World Series title isn't on him and doesn't detract from how good he is.

RSM, you should have noticed by now that nobody on this forum agrees with your assessment of Brady...Either you are the most astute evaluator ...or you're just wrong. Quick Question - Following your logic, where does that place you in the debate about Trump being a great President? Do you see something the rest of us have overlooked or are you just wrong?

That picture was taken at the precise moment Giselle found out how much he was paying in child support for his illegitimate son.

Tom Brady is overall the GOAT. I used to think he was overrated until perhaps about 4 years ago. But if you stop and think about what he's done with what he's had to work with he's the greatest. Not to mention his dedication. Not sure how many people know this but the guy is at least 10 years younger than his age because of his diet and regimen he is devoted to. he wrote a book about it. And it works for him. He's done everything he's done with an evil genius as coach. And evil genius he is. We've left championships on the ground over the years. We should be working on numbers 7 or 8, if not 9 right now. But Bellichick is cheap and inflexible and won't pay players. The Patriots have accomplished what they've accomplished with being in the middle 3rd in payroll. Never the top 3rd. That is amazing to say the least. Bellichick has a design in his head and feels he can plug in a prototype and if that person "does his job" then his "system" will win out in the end. Problem with not paying people is you're destined to always be in the hunt, but not assured dominance year-in year-out. Well it's winding down now, but it's be a glorious ride for sure. Brady is all but done and I have no doubt Bellichick can remain competitive, but not dominant as was the case for a few years at least. Brady helped him.

We should be working on numbers 7 or 8, if not 9 right now... Of the 8 Super Bowls the Patriots have been in since 2002, they won only one by more than a single score (2019 vs Rams). They could have easily been the Buffalo Bills of this decade, going 2 - 6 in the Championship game (I'm giving you the 2005 one as well). They should have lost to the Rams in 2002, the Panthers in 2004, the Seahawks in 2015, the Falcons in 2017. Add those two the two they dropped against the Giants and that is Denver Bronco territory. You should thank your lucky stars for Belichick. If brady is the reason for the Super Bowl wins & not Belichick, then why did all of the victories come at the beginning and end of Brady's career? The years he was at his peak physically & statistically led to 0 Super Bowl wins.

Hope they can block better for him than the last guy.

I agree, the next 2 years will answer alot of questions. If Tampa Tom can't get the Bucs out of the cellar and Belichick leads the patriots to another Super Bowl, I think it would lead credence to my supposition.
As far as GOAT at QB, I have a tie between Bradshaw & Montana. Considering those two put multiple tough losses on the team I grew up rooting for, that is the most anti-homer nomination ever.

Tampa is likely to emerge from the cellar, and NE ain't gonna win the east this year.
But that shouldn't sway the opinion one way or another.
Both Bradshaw and Montana had better pieces around them in the backfield, and on the outside. Pretty sure they were throwing to HOFers.

But Bellichick is cheap and inflexible and won't pay players. This may come as a surprise, but Bill Bellichick is the head coach, and as such he doesn't pay players anything.

Well let me ask this of those whose opinion differs from mine, if the Brady led Bucs have similar or worse seasons the next two years (compared to this year) and the Patriots win the East both years & say, make the Super Bowl 1 year, would you be willing to say my contention is valid?
I ask because I would should the opposite happen. If Brady leads the Tampa to a couple of playoff appearances or a division title while at the same time New England tanks, doesn't win the division and misses the playoffs both years, I'd openly say I was wrong. In that scenario, I would admit my view was incorrect, that Brady was the reason for the Patriots success and that Belichick lucked out in having him as a QB.
If the first scenario laid out came to fruition, would any of you then agree with me?

If the first scenario laid out came to fruition, would any of you then agree with me? No, primarily because Brady will be 43 years old this season. What he does with the Bucs, or any other team, will do nothing to augment or diminish what he has accomplished in his career. It's no different than if Peyton Manning, Joe Montana or Terry Bradshaw came back to QB the Bucs this fall.
