The Fight'n Friars won Trinity League (upsetting St. John Bosco on their home floor), the CIF-SS Title, and--for the first time ever--CIF Masters Title. Four wrestlers placed in the Top Ten in this week's CIF State Championship in Bakersfield (three of them Juniors). Congrats to the boys!

After willing the Trinity League Title, Servite actually won BOTH the CIF Dual meet championship, AND the CIF Individual Team championships, before winning The Masters Title. Bosco finished 2nd to Servite in all four meets.
In the CIF State Title Bosco performed better, finishing 5th, while Servite finished 11th.

It should be pointed out that for as long as I can remember, the CIF has also disallowed any contact between high school coaches and their players for any kind of organized sports activity on Sundays (i.e. practices, running, weightlifting, film review, team meetings, etc.) In fact, for many years we weren't even allowed to hold our annual Varsity Family Mass on a Sunday until we finally received the OK.

I saw a couple of these CIF rings in class today. Not sure if the Super Bowl rings are any bigger.

With all due respect to those Servite pinky rings, the 2017 Mater Dei football national championship rings were so large that wearing them caused a severe lumbar strain and spinal curvature on many players and staff. Thank God we won another one in 2018 to wear on the other hand to again straighten out the spine. Now the only problem is damaged bilateral rotator cuffs.

Looks like the scores of some of the recent playoff games between Mater Dei and Mission Viejo. Servite is to Orange County H.S. wrestling what the Monarchs are to O.C. HSFB. Let the hate pour in!

Servite trailed all the way, but pulled up to where a pin in the final match would give the Friars the victory. and the pin happened...but not for Servite. Temecula Valley wins 40-29.

Servite lost to them early last year also. But the Friars got the last laugh, beating them in the Masters and in CIF.
