That is what I’m suggesting. Since a Republican will never carry CA, wouldn’t it make sense to vote libertarian this time? And listen to the media and Dems cry about the popular vote again... nope. I spent years on that Libertarian thing as far as a party... its beyond dysfunctional. I'm forced to call myself a Republitarian. I think many of us here would support that party..., Hey, I have like this glowing light bulb hovering over my head right now...., can you see the light! I went the libertarian route as well last election. I agree with many of its principles, but don't think it would ever be a viable party. What has worked for me is being independent of any party affiliation. I'm surprised at how many more people I run across who share that thinking, with the biggest reason being disenchantment with the major parties, and their self serving power struggle. Frankly, I think we're idiots for tolerating it.

My biggest criticism of the formal Libertarian party is, they major on the minors and virtually ignore the majors.
I agree with most of their platform, but they endlessly promote, for example, marijuana legalization and pay almost no attention to smaller government.

Dave - pretty long article, but an accurate piece. Reluctant Trumpers is where most, if not all, of us on this board slot.
I get the notion of "in this world, but not of this world" as well. What I struggle with is the influence religious conservatives seem to want to exert on government, and where that line exists.
Is it late term abortion... ALL abortion?
Gay marriage? Trans rights?
Tax exemption for churches?

What I struggle with is the influence religious conservatives seem to want to exert on government, and where that line exists. Is it late term abortion... ALL abortion? Gay marriage? Trans rights? Tax exemption for churches? Absolutely agree and, most recently, I have been trying (so far, without much success) to uncouple my political and theological beliefs. Of course, my beliefs do ... and should... influence my politics. But that shouldn’t mean “we” want to mold an election in our image. i have watched the awakening of the conservative Christian as a political force. But I’m not so sure it hasn’t been more of an enjoyment of the spotlight than it is a true desire to impact the political landscape. Jimmy Carter shown the light on “us” but it wasn’t really until John McCain and Obama were fighting over “the evangelical vote” that we stepped into the light. IMO, McCain selecting Sarah Palin as his running mate was a bald-faced pandering to that group and, from that “modest” beginning, has sprung the Tea Party and other conservative-with-religious-underpinnings groups hoping to put a “real” Christian in the White House. i believe, as has been expressed here, a non-Christian can be an effective leader. To me, a leader who is also a Christian is grand, but not essential.

In the 80's when AID's and HIV hit the seen it was clear that homosexual sex was the leading cause of the spread of the disease. In the beginning when doctors were telling us that having over a hundred sexual partners in a year was a unhealthy lifestyle and the homosexual community needed to stop living like that the left put a stop to that information by intimidation, threats and attacks. The Bible is clear that homosexual sex is wrong and this disease was a sign that their behavior was a huge health threat. Doctors pleaded with San Francisco government leaders to shut down the bath houses but the homosexual leaders sued to keep them open even with all the bad news.
The media, Hollywood, university and the left are at war with the church. We are the last wall to breach and the left will control it all. President Trump is installing conservative federal judges and giving the church the right to say no to the government. Remember it was the Christian church who started the fight to end slavery. Many went to jail and some were hung for treason. These Christian had to start their own party and find anti-slavery candidates. The church was very political in the 1800's and thank God they were. Money was raised for candidates during the church service. The church payed for news paper ads to help anti-slavery candidates. Thousands of church members would march in the streets and they pushed the point all the way to war.
