I wanted to run an idea by you all as it relates to individual thread moderation. Quite a few of you start threads that go sideways, get hijacked, etc., and I'm pretty sure that can be frustrating. If you're interested in moderating your own thread, I think this can be easily accomplished by reporting the post, and then I'd escort it to the swamp into another thread I'll call the Island of Misfit Posts. No questions asked...it's YOUR thread.
If there are any takers, I'd like to try this on a limited basis for threads you start that you'd like strictly moderated. Just add "ITM" to the subject line of the thread.

But I reserve the right, to you, to tell me I’m being overly sensitive. I don’t want you (being the sole responsible party, here) to get overburdened with a new responsibility.

I doubt you'd want every thread strictly moderated. Besides, it's not my place to tell you if you're being overly sensitive on your own thread, any more than it would be my place to tell you where to put your shoes in your own home. Your thread - your rules.
If the threads are just personal attack pieces, we've got an area designated for them.

Either at the beginning or end of the subject line to let participants know that thread may be moderated differently than the rest of the board, and the thread author is the one calling the shots on it. |

I don't care but it doesn't sound like such a great idea to me. Conversations normally wander all over the place and I can see people getting annoyed when their comments get removed..................................Luca

And some others get annoyed when some subject matter that's important to them goes sideways. It'll be an interesting experiment - to me anyways. It stays consistent with our (my) desire to be self-regulating...almost like having individual states ruling their own thread v. global dictatorship of a corrupt mod. |

Actually more like a true republic, as thread starters make their own rules like states should be allowed to.
Think of me as doing the job of the federal gov't...an immigration policy v. open border, minimal "rules", and then get out of the way.
