Frog mentioned this in another thread, but this topic deserves its own thread. Gavin Newsom publicly scolded Orange County today and ordered that the beaches of Orange County & only Orange County be shut down starting tomorrow. I literally yelled "F*** You Newsom" when I heard this news while driving today. A couple of random thoughts that boiled to the surface following this order from Governor Hair Gel: - This order was given based on Newsom's emotions and was not backed up by any scientific evidence or reasoning. It was literally done on a whim. I realize no one on this forum voted for him, but his action should scare every Democrat who accuses Trump of being a fascist;
- What more does Sacramento & Northern California have to do to us 11 million folk who live south of L.A. before we split from them? Together, Imperial, Orange, Riverside, San Bernadino & San Diego counties have enough people to be the 8th largest state. If we can't become a separate state, can we talk Arizona into annexing us? I'm sure Arizonians would enjoy the beaches, ports and not having to share the Colorado river water with California. Hell, Orange County alone would be larger in population than 20 other states, if the other counties don't want to join us, we can go out on our own. We have got to break free...
- Are these the kinds of actions that history looks back on and says were the sparks that started civil unrest, war, or major social upheaval? This goddamn frat boy believes he is an emperor!!
- How can Newsom's actions be defended with a straight face by any Democrat? You have to be a complete totalitarian to not find his behavior dangerous.
- Is there any way California can be expelled from the nation? Give me a chance to sell my house first & then kick these MF'ers out on their own. The left has destroyed the state I was born into, changing it from the best in the nation into a complete shit show in just over 50 years.
Two things must happen this weekend. First, people must flock in droves out to all of Orange Counties beaches, including those in fairyland Laguna. I had other plans this week, but I am really thinking I need to get down to the beach just to make a point. Second, law enforcement must not fall into the rabbit hole of "We were just following orders" and harass/arrest those who go to the beach. Cops, from the top man down to the guy on the street, must realize what is happening and refuse to enforce this order from the governor. Then and only then will the people of Orange County show Newsom & all of Sacramento that they can not rule with an iron fist.
My only concern if the above two items do happen is that Newsom will then resort to martial law or calling in the National Guard.

Bad news RSM...I haven't seen a single democrat disagree with him. In fact, they applaud him and deride the "selfish" ones for ruining it for everyone else because dad got mad. Just ask Sondheimer.

Apparently the Orange County Sheriff is saying tonight that his people won't enforce the Governor's stupid and punitive singling out of OC beaches for closure. Other OC cities are filing emergency lawsuits. I hope to heck there are a ton of people out at the beaches tomorrow and this weekend just to shove up Newsom's backside.
I'll be hitting up Seal Beach with my kids tomorrow.

I felt exactly the same way, and responded exactly the same way, when I heard the words directly from his mouth replayed on the radio. Fortunately, no one else was home to hear my outburst. This should put to rest the notion that his actions and directives have anything to do with a concern for public health. His singling out of Orange County for closure was a direct, petulant, punitive act designed to punish those who had the audacity to defy the emperor. I hope he catches the virus and shits himself into a coma. |

If you read between the lines here, the sheriff is telling the Governor they're not about to enforce his temper tantrum that's bound to start a riot.

Seal Beach was closed, with a small number of people sitting up on the bluff. H.B. looks to be the epicenter of O.C. resistance.

I will hopefully have a photo to post later today from one of the beautiful beaches of O.C. Promise made; promise kept. About 1:30 earlier today. My daughter's 4th grade class held a little drive-by parade for their teacher, who lives in Seal Beach, so I went down to check out the beach. You can see where pier is fenced up. Some 20-something cop came over and hassled us about getting too close to the sand.  |

Some 20-something cop came over and hassled us about getting too close to the sand. Did you get the chance to talk with him, not citizen to cop, but man to man? I would like to talk with that type of officer, especially if he is 20 to 30 years younger than me. Ask him to take his sunglasses off so we can see each others eyes, and remind him this is a moment that could make his life. Will he follow orders that he knows are wrong and immoral, using his power to do the dirty work for Newsom or will he not be a tool for a despot. I would let him know that I respect him for becoming an officer and out of that respect, I will do what he asks. I only request that he look at the trust the public has placed in him and the oath that he swore to uphold & determine if enforcing Newsom's order squares with that. Not sure if it would make a difference. |

No, I did not have the chance to do so, but I think your words are spot on. Hopefully these officers are reading similar sentiments themselves and/or will hear such this weekend.
These "laws" are no laws at all--merely the edicts of governors who think they are a law unto themselves. Unfortunately there is no integrity among the politicians on the Left nor among their media cheerleaders to hold these little would-be dictators to account.

As I noted in the thread, “Reopen America,” I do not know the source, so do not know its validity: It sounds accurate. Current Federal and State law: You do NOT have to stay home. You do NOT have to close your business. You are NOT restricted in your travels. You are NOT banned from religious assembly. These are NOT laws, as a law must be passed by your state legislature. And, of course, this has not happened in any of our 50 states. These following orders are UNLAWFUL “orders”: Stay at home, Close your business, Don’t go to church, Practice social distancing, Wear a mask, No interstate travel etc etc. These are NOT laws that can carry any kind of criminal penalty for violation. They are at best ONLY guidelines for "suggestion". These "orders" carry NO legitimate force of law with which to back them up. NO governor nor mayor may craft a law and assign a punishment for its non-compliance. They can't. And, even if one of these tyrants tries to do so, such orders or actions would then be profoundly unconstitutional and a solid basis for compensation to "anyone affected" by them. The Free Exercise Clause of the First 1st Amendment firmly establishes freedom of religion as a fundamental liberty, and the Due Process Clause of the Fifth 5th Amendment firmly establishes your right to purchase a lawful product in interstate commerce from a willing seller as "fundamental". Fundamental liberties are in the highest category of liberty, akin to freedom of conscience and speech and press and privacy and travel. Right to Congregate/Assemble Per the First 1ST Amendment to the United States Constitution: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech,or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." Right to Travel: DESPITE ACTIONS OF POLICE AND LOCAL COURTS, HIGHER COURTS HAVE RULED THAT AMERICAN CITIZENS HAVE A RIGHT TO TRAVEL!!! Per our 14TH Amendment to the United States Constitution (abridged): "The right of a citizen to travel upon the public highways and to transport his property thereon in the ordinary course of life and business is a common right which he has under his right to enjoy life and liberty, to acquire and possess property, and to pursue happiness and safety. It includes the right in so doing to use the ordinary and usual conveyances of the day."
