As we transition to normalcy perhaps a thread more focused on the fallout from economic shutdowns is appropriate.
And was not a "choice" made by the businesses; it was an "order" imposed on the people by governors and mayors, who in the coming months are going to concentrate on nothing more than CYA for all the unnecessary wreckage of policies that should have been rescinded, or at least drastically altered, no later than Easter.
p.s. I hold no particular brief (pun intended) for Victoria's Secret. There are 100,000+ business in the same boat.

The “choice” was made by the governors once the virus was threatened. Some governors, almost exclusively democrats, carried their newfound power too far, so no... those businesses had no choice.

The federal & state governments were not prepared for a pandemic, hence the shutdown to "flatten the curve" and buy time to get things (beds, respirators, etc) in place to handle the forecasted enormous amount of people that would end up in our hospitals. So essentially they took "their problem" (being unprepared) and made it "our problem" (shutting down our businesses) in order to fix it.
Then it turns out Covid19 was not the 100 year killer it was projected to be, but rather a virus that was lethal when set loose in nursing homes and easily transmittable in densely populated areas with mass transit. Oops!
Yet those who clamored for a shutdown, who still want things shutdown and who want US citizens finking on each other are so entwined with their original viewpoint that they refuse to acknowledge how wrong it was.

The refusal to acknowledge is far and away the most galling aspect of this in my book.
How can anyone willingly follow these clowns now?

Wow, this is CBS not Fox News..... I thin many of us here have discussed and were aware early on the risk of collateral damage from Covid policies being worse and in cases far worse than any virus...

A simply stunning admission that the pandemic was merit on politics not science....
