Great article with plenty of data showing that face masks--even in nations with close to 100% compliance--do nothing to "eliminate" COVID-19. As if anyone other than you ever suggested that wearing a mask would eliminate the virus. Congratulations on debunking a claim no one has made.

Credo - completely on board with the thinking you presented. All masking and sheltering has done is push it into the next flu season, instead of letting nature run its course.
I've been following the Japan #'s for some time now. At first it looked like they had the correct approach as their #' s indicated they had it close to extinct back in May. Now they're more than doubled with the infection rate.
Masking healthy people will go down as one of the most damaging decisions in modern recorded history.

Clearly not all doctors, VP. That should really be what's examined here. How were the ones that recommended this course of action(s), who are now being presented with objective facts that refute, or at a minimum, cast doubt upon its efficacy, continuing to pursue this tack?

Masking healthy people will go down as one of the most damaging decisions in modern recorded history. And yet all the doctors recommend wearing masks...go figure. Wrong on so many fronts. Some doctors recommend mask wearing, some doctors don't. Very few doctors recommend healthy people wear masks, rather they recommend those in the high risk group wear masks. The CDC recommendation is if you are in the high risk group, avoid being in the proximity of people and if you can't do that, then wear a mask. It is amazing how often you are are wrong, but yet never in doubt & willing to defend an obviously wrong position.

Clearly not all doctors, VP. No...not ALL doctors,,,,some 'doctors" recommend Hydroxy-what-the-fuck-ever and also don't have sex with demons in your dreams or you'll get cancer...I was only referring to actual doctors who know what the heck they're talking about and who have some background in epidemiology, infectious diseases, virology, etc... Let's say MOST doctors who don't issue their opinions on Twitter or Facebook.

Incorrect...it's amazing how you can't do a simple internet search...from the CDC website: "To reduce the spread of COVID-19, CDC recommends that people wear masks in public settings when around people outside of their household, especially when other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain." www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/about-face-coverings.html

Let's say MOST doctors who don't issue their opinions on Twitter or Facebook. Growing up with a dad as a MD, I was made aware that medicine is often as much art as it is science...mainly because of the variability of our body chemistries. Suffice it to say, many qualified doctors have varied OPINIONS about the diagnosis and proper treatment of the one or two illnesses out there...hence the popularity of the term 2nd Opinion within the medical community. Your subsequent commentary about "doctors" who aren't aligned with your point of view, isn't really grounded in objectivity now is it? More of the usual low brow diatribe offered by politically driven commentary, right? That's OK if that's the best you can do, but it's hard for me to get excited about engaging with you about it. Some stuff is fun doing the low brow bit, but this one is not one of them for me.

These ads contradict what is on their website. I am assuming the ads may have not been updated, whereas the website portions show updates in mid July & today. So while I was incorrect about the current CDC recommendation, you were incorrect that all doctors recommend wearing masks. There are plenty of reputable doctors whose income does not reply on government funds who do not recommend healthy people wear masks.

Like Dr. Harvey Risch, Professor of Epidemiology at Yale School of Public Health, who's published over 300 peer-reviewed articles? Sounds like a real quack....Let's say MOST doctors who don't issue their opinions on Twitter or Facebook. My post on Hydroxychloroquine that you seem to disdain was from an article by Dr. Risch for Newsweek, based on article he published in American Journal of Epidemiology, posted on Newsweek's Twitter feed. In case you missed this, MOST people realize that all major news organizations and scientific journals publicize their work through social media--including Twitter and Facebook. Dismissing the message because you dislike the messenger or the medium isn't a good look, but in your blind compulsion to oppose whatever I support perhaps you haven't considered this.
Not a good look.

And yet all the doctors recommend wearing masks...go figure. Uh....yeah. "People should not be walking around with masks." - Dr. Anthony Fauci Yeah...he said that back in March when there was a shortage of masks and Fauci didn't want people panic buying masks that were needed by medical personnel....try to keep up. Things have changed since then. Try to keep up.

Are you suggesting that he believed that healthy people should wear masks back then, but for a shortage of them, advocated NOT wearing them?

No Bick...I'm suggesting that things have changed since Fauci made his statement. Trying to use his words from March against him now is...wrongheaded.
