Hard to determine the levels of embellishment any more. Anyone have a more objective source that corroborates this?

You think any objective source would call these idiots "political prisoners"?

Hard to determine the levels of embellishment any more. Anyone have a more objective source that corroborates this? Not sure if we'd call Fox News "objective," but... Suspect in Capitol riot allegedly 'severely beaten' by DC jail guards
Although the title of the article refers only to the one, his testimony mentioned in the article does use the plural: There are a lot of other outlets supporting this, but none were what I would call "primary" sources.

I've seen some of those Walmart security people, and I think a quadriplegic could outrun them.

An interesting day in Congress today as the Select Committee investigating the Jan. 6th riot got underway. Even more interesting that no one wants to talk about it here. A few highlights from today's testimony: Sgt. Aquilino Gonell of the U.S. Capitol Police, an Army veteran who served in Iraq, described the scene on the complex's West Front, where officers were outnumbered by thousands of people wielding bats, flagpoles and other items used to pummel the police. He said he thought to himself, "This is how I am going to die."
Another officer, Michael Fanone of the Washington, D.C., Metropolitan Police Department, called the hand-to-hand combat between police and rioters "nothing short of brutal." Fanone said he was Tased repeatedly, and dragged into the crowd as members of the mob took his gun and threatened to shoot him with it.
He was visibly angry at lawmakers who have since downplayed the violence that day. Fanone told the panel, "I feel like I went to hell and back to protect them."
"The indifference shown to my colleagues is disgraceful!" he shouted, pounding the table.
U.S. Capitol Police Pfc. Harry Dunn said what happened on Jan. 6 was political, and that those participating had a mission: "They literally were there to 'stop the steal,' " he said, using a phrase former President Donald Trump and his supporters invoked to falsely claim that the 2020 election results were illegitimate.
Dunn said he wants the committee to look at why rioters were there that day.
"If a hit man is hired and he kills somebody, the hit man goes to jail," he told the panel. "But not only does the hit man go to jail, but the person who hired them does. There was an attack carried out on Jan. 6, and [someone] sent them. I want you to get to the bottom of that."
Dunn, a Black officer who's been with the department for more than 14 years, said he was called the N-word after acknowledging to rioters that he voted for Joe Biden for president.
Officer Daniel Hodges of the D.C. Metropolitan Police repeatedly used the word "terrorists" to describe those involved in the siege, and defended the term by coming prepared with the U.S. Code definition of domestic terrorism.
Hodges said rioters pledged support to Trump as they assaulted officers. He said they appealed to him to join their effort to take the building, and said they tried to "convert us to their cult."...
Cheney, for instance, asked Sgt. Gonell about Trump calling the group at the Capitol a "loving crowd." He retorted that it was "pathetic" and he was "still recovering from those 'hugs and kisses' that day."
McCarthy scheduled a press conference ahead of the hearing as a chance for GOP leaders and those he wanted on the committee to do a prebuttal. He said the panel was a "sham" and he and others at the event attempted to blame Pelosi for security failures at the Capitol on Jan. 6. None provided any evidence, and the speaker does not directly oversee the U.S. Capitol Police.
Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., a member of the panel, told NPR on Tuesday that "we'll do whatever is necessary to make sure we get the answers, and no one is off the table," including the former president or members of Congress.
Officer Hodges implored the committee at the end of the hearing, "I need you guys to address if anyone in power had a role in this, if anyone in power coordinated, or aided and abetted" what happened that day.
The Justice Department, now under the Biden administration, decided Tuesday that former government officials could not invoke executive privilege to avoid testifying about conversations with Trump or his advisers about the insurrection.Might get interesting if trump has to testify. www.npr.org/2021/07/28/1021113538/4-takeaways-from-the-emotional-1st-select-committee-hearing-on-the-capitol-attac

What about Ms. Cheney and Mr. Kinzinger? Are they just hateful Democrats?
And whatever happened to Republicans supporting the cops? Why the deafening silence here?
What a show of cowardice and hypocrisy. You all should be ashamed of yourselves.

The RINOS on the committee, one of whom is the representative from my district, are Pelosi hand-picked replacements for the names McConnell gave her; and not reputable representatives of conservative thought.
Similarly, the officers who testified were also hand picked by the democraps and do not reflect well on LEO's, generally (and whom I support, generally, but only a moron offers blanket support for anyone or any group.
As someone already said, this dog-and-pony show is the only thing they have to focus on: It is not relevant and seeks no facts, at all. An "investigation" with a predetermined outcome is not an investigation at all... it is a witch hunt.

The 4 police officers were handpicked by the committee to make the most horrendous and damaging comments towards those who marched on the capitol. It's interesting that not one officer was asked to speak who were shown in videos welcoming those people and opening the barriers to let them in.
Not a question on who shot and killed an unarmed protestor. Not one question why more than 1,000 hours of video has not been released. Not one question about the obvious lack of Nancy Pelosi's actions, who denied numerous requests for back up on that day. Not one question why the 6 requests for more officers in advance of the day to Pelosi was denied.
Not one question why the 574 riots elsewhere in the country last summer were ignored, all arrests forgiven, and why this one was different than any of those, although those riots produced close to 75 deaths and billions of more in damages. Can you say " two tiered justice system". One for Dems and a different one for Republicans.
No one asked about the FBI and their possible involvement in inciting these riots with their agents inplanted in the crowd to push the riots.
The crocodile tears of the two Adams was staged by the two drama queens. Sickening watching these two frauds.
This was all political drama staged by Pelosi to run into the 2022 elections and avoid the obvious issues with a faltering and failing Biden Administration.
The outcome of this sham investigation has already been determined. Yesterday was the first step. It will get more obvious as they proceed.

The motion even states minority communities are destabilized... so if some moron cannot see how defunding police will destabilize communities even further, they have their head buried in the sand and nothing we can do for them. he who is determined to not understand, will not understand. they shouldnt be federally funded
