A cop kills a suspect in Minnesota. He's fired and charged with M2, 3 other cops at the scene are also fired and charged with aiding and abetting. Riots ensue in 2,000 miles away in Los Angeles and cause millions of $ in damages.
The consequences are to reward the rioters, and punish the cops that had nothing to do with the behavior in Minnesota. I'm sure this won't set a precedent for future riots.
You can't make this stuff up.

I really don't see how this move rewards the rioters or punishes the police, but I really fail to understand why you think this will lead to MORE riots.

How do you move money around when you are fiscally strapped or broke? And moral within your department will plummet.... go to work, serve but don't protect.

Seems like a pretty simple concept to understand. Mass rioting and looting, protesters shouting “defund the police.” As a result, LAPD budget is reduced.

Thefrog, sometimes you have to post in language and analogies VP can understand. Try this: "Your Daddy gives you a weekly allowance, but sometimes you are a bad boy. So your Daddy cuts your allowance from $1.00 to 90 cents. That's punishment."

The motion even states minority communities are destabilized... so if some moron cannot see how defunding police will destabilize communities even further, they have their head buried in the sand and nothing we can do for them.
he who is determined to not understand, will not understand.

the PARA-MILITARY arm of the left is ANITFA, they have done the dirty work for the socialists in charge of states and cities like LA. Bow down or face terrorism. Never thought i'd see cities like NYC or LA stand down and run. This will never work, a city run by coercion, not within government but now outside of it in a sense like the MAFIA's did in their heydays.

There is another arm to this rewarding the rioters that few are talking about.
A fund is being accumulated, be it Black Lives Matter or one of George Soros umbrella organizations, to bail out anyone arrested looting or rioting.
As of a report yesterday, the fund has $20 million, so those arrested are back on the street, in some cases, even before the civil unrest in a given city is concluded... New York is reporting multiple arrests of the same people on different days.

Protester: I'm marching for George.
Me: Floyd or Soros?

Your sister decides to throw a fit and break the TV. Daddy cuts YOUR allowance, and gives it to your sister. Your sister was just rewarded for bad behavior.

The "take a knee" movement is the next stage in this attempt to remake America. I will stand with Drew Brees and kneel for God alone.
Franklin Graham: "The problem we are facing in this country is a spiritual and moral problem. New laws and more government give-away programs are not the answer. It’s a heart problem, and only God can change the human heart."

Seems like a pretty simple concept to understand. Mass rioting and looting, protesters shouting “defund the police.” As a result, LAPD budget is reduced. It would be simple to understand if that's what happened...but of course that's not where this thread went...you have information that protesters were shouting "defund the police" and that the city government took their advice? That hasn't been mentioned here. Something that was mentioned but you failed to talk about was that the money they're planning on taking from the police dept. would be used on other community projects intended to reduce such rioting in the future...but just forget that part right? It seems to me the idea here is that the money would be better spent on stopping the riots before they start rather than buying more rubber bullets and tear gas. Given how much you guys rail about "tyranny" I really don't understand your desire to pay the police to beat the crap out of people rather than some sort of community outreach program.

I think our minority communities are sick and tired of being "stabilized' by the police...but as you point out, you're determined not to understand.

How do you move money around when you are fiscally strapped or broke? And moral within your department will plummet.... go to work, serve but don't protect. This defunding and re-allocation of police department funds is nothing more than capitulation to a ransom demand. This will set off a war between the police union and the city. Crime will soar and the "communities of color" that this is allegedly meant to help will be at the mercy of criminals as never before. Once L.A. allows itself to be blackmailed, there will be increasing pressure for every other large city to do the same. An entirely predictable disaster. America, this is the Democrats' vision for the nation. You have been warned. p.s. Not sure of the content of the above posts. They remain BLOCKED, so they are not being read by me. Stop wasting your time.

You know, if you want to fund minority communities, maybe take some money from the absolutely BS pension system that’s been plaguing this state since its beginning.
