You know, if you want to fund minority communities, maybe take some money from the absolutely BS pension system that’s been plaguing this state since its beginning. I’ve suggested that to Illinois lawmakers, as well. so far, crickets. |

He'd likely have to retire if he didn't.
If I we're he though...
I'd take the first snap from scrimmage,
take a knee,
turn and hand the ball to the ref,
walk over to Sean Payton,
take off my helmet and jersey,
hand it to him,
and walk out the tunnel...but that's just me.

Given how much you guys rail about "tyranny" I really don't understand your desire to pay the police to beat the crap out of people rather than some sort of community outreach program. No one on this board, with the possible exception of Tuba, has any desire for the police to beat the crap out of people. What we do have is a desire for the police to enforce the law against criminals. If that demands getting physical with a criminal suspect in order to lawfully subdue him, so be it. If that same cop kneels on someones neck and kills him, we want that that cop arrested. Honest question - did you misrepresent what the rest of us "want" because you didn't understand what we want or because it helped try to make your point? |

Defunding the police would be an unmitigated disaster for black neighborhoods. Which is probably why the Democrats are in favor of it. The events of the past week will eventually result in the worst damage to black Americans since Democrats enacted Jim Crow following the end of Reconstruction.

He listened, and he gave some consideration to the idea that he might have been wrong. On another point it's rather amusing to see a Catholic ranting about "dissent from acceptable ideas"...not like your church has a good reputation there. Carry on. Also, referring to his fan base as "Big Brother" is just silly, Big Brother is the government, not the public at large. |

Sometimes I make statements designed to get a response. This was one of those times. See, when you misrepresent what happened in order to make a political point, you lose all credibility. You know damn well the president didn't send troops to Layfeyette Park (or you should if you are going to make such an accusation). The park police are who cleared out the protesters as the curfew was coming up did so based on the previous nights looting in which the church was set on fire. They were making sure it would not happen again. Now, you may think it is cute to lie in order to get a response but it does a couple of things. First, it reinforces a stereotype that those on the left are stupid or disengenous. That makes discourse between right & left more divisive, not the most admirable goal to have. Second, it gives those who oppose your views carte blanche to ignore them, not the reason one would take time to post on a forum such as this unless they are just trolling. Lastly, it induces people to act negatively towards you, which you then internalize as people hating you because you are gay. In short, not a good look. |
