Why do we need the comic pages when we have the regular news? The city council president in Minneapolis intends to dismantle the city's police department. So, she was asked the obvious question by a reporter:
"Do you understand that the word, dismantle, or police-free also makes some people nervous, for instance?"..... "What if in the middle of [the] night, my home is broken into? Who do I call?"
And the answer was: "I mean, I hear that loud and clear from a lot of my neighbors," Bender said. "And I know -- and myself, too, and I know that that comes from a place of privilege. Because for those of us for whom the system is working, I think we need to step back and imagine what it would feel like to already live in that reality where calling the police may mean more harm is done."
In other words, the concept of calling the police when you are in danger "comes from a place a privilege". Just once - one time is all I ask - I would like if some would ask a follow-up question like:
"WTF does that mean?"
Don't you just hate it when you're being all woke and people coming from a place of privilege ask you to actually explain the logic to your wokeness? These people live in Calvin and Hobbes Opposites Day...............................Luca

When you can't give a straightforward answer to a simple, relevant, and honest question:

This thread could easily be entitled, "Liberal cognitave dissonance" but Opposites Day is pithier.

Wait--white audiences and viewers and consumers made Oprah a billionaire, so maybe she's right? But then that would undermine the "America is racist" narrative, which would then undermine the "white privilege" narrative, and so on....

This thread could easily be entitled, "Liberal cognitave dissonance" but Opposites Day is pithier. The examples are infinite. Why is it acceptable to the left to destroy a business by looting it and burning it to the ground, but it is a crime for the owner to open it for his customers?
