How is the "discerning public" supposed to make an informed choice when they are being bombarded by misinformation? First, I think that statement reflects a common perception among members of the left that the American people are incapable of "discerning" between two differing opinions and choosing the one that makes the most sense to them. To me at least, the notion that American adults are so simple-minded that they need to be steered to the "correct" opinion by protecting them from even seeing any other ones is not only cynical, but also horribly insulting. Firstly, that wasn't a statement it was a question. Secondly, why do you insist on pretending I insulted the intellect of the American people? Was that easier to argue against? Let me ask again, how is the very discerning public supposed to make an informed and intelligent choice when they are being bombarded by misinformation? You can't base sound conclusions on shaky facts. |

I disagree with the premise that it is (ever) time to hate. But other than that, this is an insightful if not overly obvious look at today’s radical “progressive.” It’s Time To Hate Them Right Back

I'm pretty sure I'm a broken record with this, but when does the conversation shift to dividing the country?
I've not read one person get here or on social media, that has articulated any real hope that left and right have compatible views.
You and I have both been through a divorce. Mine was a result of both of us recognizing who we were at the core was not going to work out. Both of us lived through parents who didn't care for each other, and our common ground was that wasn't going to be us.
Shouldn't the common ground between left and right be the desire NOT to go through another violent civil war?

You can't base sound conclusions on shaky facts. Sorry, but I think you're contradicting yourself. If you truly believe the American public is intelligent and "discerning", they have the right and the need to be exposed to and informed on both sides of an issue to make an informed, intelligent choice. If you feel they need to be protected from what your side thinks are lies and "shaky facts" through suppression and censorship, then you have to believe they are too ignorant to see through the sham. Which is it? As Luca has said, you can't have it both ways. I agree that you can't base sound conclusions on shaky facts, but you have better odds than if you're only allowed to see one side. |

Geographically, so if we are red citizens living in a blue state we have to move? Can I stay in California but pay my taxes and allegiance to a United Conservative States of America? Where does my police and fire protection come from? Do I have to contribute to California public education, or to the UCSA? Is Gavin Newsom my governor, even though I am a citizen of the UCSA? And a million other questions. |
