Cancel culture is like a racial version of the #MeToo movement. What the Left has found is that most of the guilty are people on their side of the political aisle.

By the way, part of the funding of this statue of Lincoln came from the donations of freed slaves. But "racism"....

I'm not sure why, but a company choosing to change the decor & theme inside a ride doesn't really get me riled up (even if they are doing it for fake reasons). Knotts has changed the themes of many of their rides over the years, albeit not due to public pressure. Maybe because I don't view an amusement parks rides as historical even if the park itself is.
Maybe things like this could be a positive and change the bigoted perspective many have of what the south currently is. So many of those in the North, Midwest & West have the southern states locked into an image of slavery times that doesn't really jive with how those places & people currently are. It would be like the rest of the country viewing Northern California folks as a bunch of gold rush people, panning in rivers to try and find their fortune.

It doesn’t bother me either really. Sad to see history go, but oh well... it’s a new era

I didn't understand why this is an issue either way unless the idea is to eliminate a somehow racist splash mountain (being in frontier land), and replace with the inclusive princess and the frog.

It is part of American culture to change what makes up our historic places. The best example is Vegas, as iconic a city that our nation has, yet the hotels & casinos that make it up are demolished & replaced at a regular interval. Vegas is Vegas, but 1960 Vegas looked alot different than 1980 Vegas which looked different than 2000 Vegas and 2020 Vegas.
Like rings on a tree, you can tell a persons age by them telling you what Vegas casino they stayed at for their 21st birthday (so VilePagan understands, it is a rite of passage for Southern Californians to go to Vegas on their 21st birthday weekend or soon thereafter). For my 21st, we stayed at the Alladin, which unbeknownst to us was having a Grateful Dead concert the same weekend. Dead heads everywhere, lying down in the parking garage, huddled around a slot machine in groups of six playing a nickel at a time. We threw paper airplanes out of our 20 something floor window (they could open back then) and I recall seeing a sports report about the Tigers reeling off a bunch of wins to start the MLB season. I walked over to the Marina hotel & placed a bet on the Angels to win the game that Mike Witt was pitching, the only bet I ever placed at that hotel and the only hotel I never lost any money at.
The fact that those hotels no longer exist and the town is immensely different than now does not change its historical context for me.

I have a DVD copy of the "Song of the South." It was very hard to come by. Anyone who wants one these days is probably out of luck. Also, you better not wait too long to get a copy of "Dumbo." That's been in their sights for a long time.
