Those of us who frequent these boards live in a bubble when it comes to high school football. There is not much appetite for this outside of nerds like us.

I’m old school and the main goal every season is a CIF Southern Section championship. Those of us who frequent these boards live in a bubble when it comes to high school football. There is not much appetite for this outside of nerds like us. Bingo. Thank you. The state bowl games are just that, bowl games. They are played by invitation only and most teams are not in control of their own destiny with regards to getting invited, while a national championship is just a popularity poll.

I think the financial aspect would be difficult for some. Might cut some of the non-conference out of state games we like to see. 8 teams would also be too much. Teams would be looking at close to 16-17 games? For fans, this would be great. No. Regular season plus 3 games. They wouldn't be playing for the local title. You 2 are national level programs. Why not compete at that level? Isn't beating everyone by 5 TD's getting a little old? Thought you'd be all over it. me, personally, yeah, I'd love it. But i'm thinking more about the student athletes. Its just a grind. At the end of the day, its high school. There is no monetary prize by winning a national championship, like college. Trust me, I would love to see us play STA or Northshore for the national championship. But that is for selfish reasons. Its fine the way it is.

That's the idea SM. I'm pretty sure the coaches and players at Los Al would rather be playing for a real national title instead of kicking everyone's ass at the section or state level, and then hoping they got more votes than the #2 team so they could call themselves a "national" champ. But that's just me. So let me get this straight, hyperbole? Or is Los Al, coaches and players planning on bailing out for a Natty? More like speculation and projection of my own values. Unprovable claims of being #1 have never really done much for me. If you believe TV ratings of true championship level events across the sports spectrum, I'd argue that most would agree with me...especially at the college football level. I'm just surprised that the supporters here of a couple of the top national level programs wouldn't even WANT to jump at the opportunity to actually prove it on the field. I guess it's more rewarding to take the best talent from the local schools, and beat them instead so as to showcase your dominance, and lay claim to a national championship.

@bick, are you saying these big local private recruited assembled powerhouse football programs would rather lay claim to a mythical natty rather than prove it...!?
