I think while they're at it, they should work some Green New Deal jargon into the prayer. You know, make it more timely and modern.

I'm curious where many of you stand regarding the church sheltering pedophile priests all these years. Never really sat well with me.

Enough of the frivolity of changing the Lord's Prayer... I'm curious where many of you stand regarding the church sheltering pedophile priests all these years. Never really sat well with me. Never should have happened; any offenders should have been immediately laicized (removed from the clerical state) or sent to do lifetime penance in a remote monastery. The overwhelming majority of the sexual abuse cases in the Catholic Church involve homosexual predator priests, who themselves should not have pursued the priesthood nor should they have been ordained. Homosexuals who rose to the top ranks of the hierarchy protected them and allowed the rot to continue. As long as this fact is swept under the rug, no complete house-cleaning is possible. |

My take is that men in power (those who run/ran the church) violated the trust their parishioners gave them and in some cases may have shaken believers faith. This isn't a problem with Catholicism, it isn't a problem with the congregations and it isn't a problem of the rules about becoming a priest. It was simply an abuse of power in trying to save face. Pedophiles will always be attracted to vocations that allow them access to children and put them in a position of authority. The priesthood is one of those vocations and those in positions of power within the church should have been aware and anticipate that some pedophiles would end up in the priest hood. Like so many things, covering up the crime made the situation many times worse than if it had been handled properly in the first place. |

I would suggest the proper term for those priests is pedophiles, not homosexual predators. Pedophiles interest in abusing children isn't based on the child's sex, rather the fact that they are indeed a child. More boys got molested than girls because boys were more accessible at that time (as alter boys). If those priests were homosexuals, there would be more cases of them having sex with other priests. A homosexual man has no reason to be a predator, he can get all the action he wants from other homosexual men. The pedophile is about control & domination of innocence, where he preys on an individual who often believes they can't say no. |

This doesn't exactly scream "we're sorry". Just more deflection and attempt to mitigate accountability from the highest levels of the church.
How does this foot with the primary tenets of confession?
