The first is that a conviction in the Senate would preclude Trump from holding federal office again.
This has been admitted to by several Lefties, including Pelosi.
I think another slap in the face is including Eric Swalwell as an impeachment manager, although I personally makes Pelosi look foolish and vindictive.

One, why is Eric Swalwell still in office? And two, I don't think Nancy Pelosi has ever made any pretext of NOT being vindictive. She is a dour old shrew who knows that her life will soon enough be reduced to eating designer ice cream and scheduling botox treatments...unless she has plans of sticking an ice pick in Kamala Harris's ear.

Eric Fartwell is still in office because, like Pelosi, he represents a district where all you need is a D after your name and your in. He won with 70.9% of the vote. It must be frustrating to people like them, when they get out of their district, and find so many people who think they are clueless scumbags. |

The current effort has no legal or practical significance and is merely an exercise and acting out frustration. I think the current effort has two issues of practical significance. The first is that a conviction in the Senate would preclude Trump from holding federal office again. Apparently, the Democrats are already worried about a 78-year-old Trump beating them in four years, like Napoleon Bonaparte returning from exile on Elba to once again recapture the French imagination. The second is payback. He has embarrassed Democrats for five years, and this is their last chance at a vindictive slap in the face as he leaves Washington. Yes, it's petty and childish, but what else would you expect? I didn't know that a Senate conviction would preclude his seeking office again. That is significant but I'm not convinced he would have wanted to run again, anyway But the Pelosi, et al vindictiveness doesn't have any practical purpose, which is my point. I doubt Trump personally attaches any significance to Pelosi's animosity. I'm not sure anybody does. It's an adolescent bitchiness on her part, so it serves no practical purpose. |
