With the obvious prospects of having another less than stellar season the least Arte Moreno could do is get rid of that stupid Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim moniker. A little something to all of us who have put up with season after season of mediocrity under his ownership.
What do you think?

I'd prefer that dumbster fire of a team not be named after the town where I grew up.

Maybe a name change will bring us another 2002 season.....or maybe not.

Maybe an owner change and a general manager change will bring us another 2002 season. I don't think a name change will do it.

If I remember correctly, didn't the Anaheim City Council just throw in everything but the kitchen sink to get him to stay in Anaheim? I doubt a new owner is in the cards.
All of us who follow baseball knew that this pitching staff wouldn't cut it, yet they did next to nothing to improve it. We're getting what I expected. Our high water mark will be 4 games over .500 when we were 7-3.

Arte's argument has always been "Anaheim is not recognizable enough to be a big draw." But I've travelled all over the U.S. and Europe and have yet to meet anyone who doesn't know Anaheim is where Disneyland is...

Good news! Since I last posted the Angels have had a very good June and are back to being a game above.500. Ohtani has carried the team on his huge shoulders, and a couple of his teammates have added such as Fletcher and Walsh. The starting pitching has actually stepped up, but the bull pen remains a sore spot. With Trout's return only about 2 weeks away, we might actually have a run for a wild card spot. Let's hope!

No, but we could win some 10-9 games. :-)

If you'll recall, this is the Angels of old: Start off and head right for the basement, to irritate the fans until approximately the All-star break... then pick it up and make an honest effort, usually AT LEAST making the playoffs, if not a Championship or two.
