Some peaceful, covid related protesting over in Cuba happening right now. Those chants of "Libertad" mean they want more free vaccines.

I'm not sure. I want to believe it's a revolution, but it doesn't appear "explosive" enough.
I have a few Cuban friends (who legitimately fled Cuba) who are hyping this up on Facebook.

From what I've read, the gov't shut down the internet there. OUR gov't response about it being about Covid concerns is particularly interesting. I think the Cuba gov't will shut this down pretty quickly unless it really is a full blown revolution. |

The protests are REALLY about US imperialism according to the anti-fascist Worker's Party of Turkey. It seems we're pushing toward an inflection point that will dissolve the facade of liberalism/socialism here in the US, into full blown communism. Watch how this gets dealt with by "the squad", Bernie Sanders and other democrats. |

The protests are REALLY about US imperialism according to the anti-fascist Worker's Party of Turkey. I've been hearing these American imperialism (or colonialism) complaints since I was in junior high school. If the United States is imperialistic, where is the evidence of its empire? What colonies have we added in the last 80 years? If there are none, we're pretty darn bad at being imperialists. |

The argument could be made that the allies we support financially would be covert colonies. That would be a weak argument. A colony is a dependecy over which one has military and political control, not an independent nation to which one supplies financial aid. |

While all the allies are sovereign nations, my intuition tells me the degree of influence the US exerts on some them has the same effect as control. |
