JOHANNESBURG—South Africa deployed soldiers on July 12 to quell the violence that erupted in the wake of former president Jacob Zuma’s jailing, after days of riots left at least six people dead.
Police said that disturbances had intensified, and 219 people were arrested as the controversial ex-leader challenged his 15-month prison term in the country’s top court.
Smoke from burning buildings swirled in the air as items from burgled shops lay strewn by the side of the road in Pietermaritzburg in Zuma’s home province of KwaZulu-Natal (KZN).

No, I'm pretty sure with six deaths it would be classified as violent. But thanks for the news update from the Falun Gong. I didn't know you were a member of that cult, but it explains a lot.
This is how you handle rioters and looters. Durban, S. Africa
Yeah, except those guys weren't rioting or looting.
Maybe...I was going by the words that were cut off the top of the video, which read, "JUST IN - Armed citizens fire on rioters in Durban, South Africa." There's nothing visible being looted, but it sure looks like rioting to me. I understand the jailing of the ex-president is the cause.
