@bick, you made picks already... are you good with the rules so far..., any input? 5 games or 10? 35 point cap on spread? Also there is a POW each week.... you have not made one. Anyone willing to take the lead on this gets my vote for whatever rules he wants. I'm good with what you've got, and made the change to include the POW. Thanks! |

OK, I ran a mock Week '0" w/ 5 games, a bit more of a challenge given the parameters but doable. WEEK 0Apple Vally @ Mission Viejo (+1.5)
Foothill @ Cypress (+4.5)
Newport Harbor @ Yorba Linda (+2.5)
San Juan Hills (+33.5) @ Santa Margarita
Upland (+1.5) @ La Habra
I tried to pick competitive games on paper with reasonable spreads. Next guy up can pick 3 or 4 TD games if they so choose.
Addressing Trinity point spread disparity, I looked at all games and went with the closet spread above, the others were OLU/JS at 34.5 points and Servite/Edison at 58.5. The SJB/Central Miami game is also 58.5 spread. now that we have intrastate games should those be in the pool?Are you sure that first game is correct? How could Mission Viejo possibly be a 1.5 underdog at home (or even only a 1.5 favorite) to Apple Valley? |

Apple Valley is ranked #15 in state, they are led by Michigan Wolverine commit QB Jayden Denegal.

I saw Apple Valley during gun range football in Jan / Feb. Denegal is a real playmaker with his feet and has a cannon for an arm.

PLAYA POOL 2021WEEK 0 KICKOFF !!POOL RULES:
1) Each week one alternating player or "selector", running alphabetically by screen name will choose 5 GAMES, consisting of 1 game each from the Trinity League, Sunset League, Southeast League and any other two games from the CIF-SS.
2) Spreads will be taken from Calpreps "Select a Matchup" page www.calpreps.com/cgi-bin/2021/project_matchup1_new.pl
3) To AVOID ties, all spreads will be rounded UP by .5 (Example 3 point spread becomes 3.5
4) Spreads exceeding 35.5 points will not be considered viable games
5) Any cancelled games due to Covid will be replaced by that weeks game selector by noon of game day. Should selector not choose, administrator will assume role of selection process. Due to Covid and potential cancellations it is your responsibility to check the "Football Pool 2021" thread accordingly.
6) All discrepancies, debates, disagreements. complaints, ruling will be put to a vote. Administrator has final say.
7) Players, shake hands, I meant fist bump, have a great game(s).

So, what's the prognosis? I was going to throw this out for debate, but since FOOTHILL won by 7, it kinda negates what I thought was going to be controversial. Cypress was favored, they loss, and with my mistake I gave them the 4.5 point which they didn't cover either. So verdict is if you had Foothill you get the "W". |
