There's something to be said about the Taliban that is actually inspiring. Before you guys all want to cut off my fingers so I can't type this blasphemy any longer, take a look at what they accomplished so quickly with very little military hardware. That kind of commitment can accomplish a whole lot of things, and the lack of it from countries like ours is no match. We used to have that level of commitment to defending our freedoms. Many of us here have advocated harsher punishment for certain crimes, but few would advocate basing those punishments on the Bible: THOSE punishments, as prescribed by God, were pretty darned draconian; albeit intended in most cases to save the Israelites from stuff they would not know about for many many years in the future (like transmitting diseases).

Clearly don't agree with the need to cut off limbs to enforce laws. More a matter of an observation of a very committed group and what they accomplished as a result of it.
