In a nation of almost 350 million people there is never going to be unanimity of opinion and anybody who expects otherwise is naïve. There are always going to be self anointed gurus perching way the hell out in left or right field throwing Molotovs at everybody not standing in righteous solidarity with them.
It's something you have to keep in mind when trying to draw conclusions about contemporary issues. If one ideology had all the answers we would have figured it out by now. Winston Churchill once said something to the effect that theories are nice, but every now and then you have to look at the results.
.........And then you read some shallow bullshit like this from an ideologue arguing against presenting both sides of an issue (because they, above normal humans, grasp The Truth) and realize this individual actually writes editorials for a major newspaper. You wonder why somebody would hire a rube like this, far less make her an editorial writer. I remember somebody once trying to embarrass Joe Namath by asking him if he majored in basket weaving at Alabama. He answered "Naw, it sounded too complicated. I majored in journalism."
You have to patiently remind yourself (as I frequently must) that half the people on planet Earth have an IQ below 100 and never see that cliff up ahead. Then it all begins to make sense..........................Luca
