Digging a little bit on this, a kid from Cathedral prints a Catholics v Convicts t-shirt before the game in April.
Today, the coach decides he's not going to play them this Friday.

I'm not sure how to take this. In the face of being thought of us "convicts and thugs", the head coach had two options. Let his team play and prove they are Cathedral's equal as football players and as human beings, or teach his players to not confront and challenge such ignorance, but rather to back down and walk away. I personally think he made the wrong decision.

What melodramatic crap.
The entire letter sounds like a typical hysterical social justice screed. It would be nice if the guy would document a few of these “unfathomable acts of racism” and “unbalanced systems.”. But before that I would suggest the coach do three things:
One). Learn how to spell. Two). Avoid using a thesaurus to feign sophistication Three). Learn how to construct a comprehensible sentence in English. (They don’t have any English teachers at that school that he could’ve run this by?)

Ya I cringed a couple times reading through it... seemed very excuse-exit stage left diatribe... Look at the scores from the last games... Lincoln was gonna get whooped.....

I particularly liked his last line, where he pats himself on the back for demonstrating courage, dignity, and self-respect.

There's not a high school football coach in the country who writes like that. Rather, it has "lawyer" written all over it.

Players were suspended, coach was suspended 2 games, school on probation for 2 years, public apology made, everyone involved with athletics had to take a 7 hour similarity training course... Was not enough.

Does anyone expect anything different from Lincoln? I don't. This coaching staff (including the principal, AD, etc.) continues to enable this victim mentality. Ya, this sucks that this happened but really? Catholics vs. Convicts and they cancel the game MONTHS later. So sad, but that's why they won't be a championship team with all that talent. When the going gets tough, point the finger and run! No need to work things out, just avoid the conflict, and drive even more separation.

Why did they wait until now to cancel the game? They could have done this back in August.

I don't think anyone who has graduated from a law school would write that badly. On the other hand, the author might have gone to the USC law school, so maybe it's possible............But I digress. I started laughing after the first sentence. " Unfathomable acts of racism.........." This is somebody who thinks adding polysyllabic words (the meaning of which he does not grasp) from a thesaurus add credibility. And it gets worse. It's a triumph of (poorly composed) rhetoric over clarity. You've heard the tongue in cheek aphorism " Never use a big word where a diminutive one will suffice."No. this was a coach who is far more emotional than articulate. C'mon, Coach. Consider those of us with hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia..........................Luca

Maybe because the T-shirt was less than 6 feet tall, it was unfathomable? Or would that be NON-fathomable?

I can almost guarantee a law clerk (i.e., law school student) wrote that letter.

Grew up listening to Simon & Garfunkel after watching Dustin Hoffman get seduced by Anne Bancroft.
