Been looking over the non league games and ahead to the League games starting this week across a few things really stood out as far as team performances from previous years as well as some long histories... here are a few that have stood out for me,
The "Good" ...
How about Yorba Linda, this program has a history of being fairly good but they are starting to look real good at 5-0. It looks as though they will end the season undefeated as Villa Park does not look as formidable as usual this season. I see a D2 CIF for the Mustangs.
Gotta like whats transpired over at Cypress, they looked good as well in summer leagues, wasn't certain it would translate over to the regular season but it has at 5-0 reeling off wins against Foothill, San Juan Hills, Western and Capo Valley. Looks like another 10-0 OC HSF team.
And maybe the biggest surprise to me are the Vanguards @ El Modena.. the ol' EL MO! At 5-0 they will be tested in league with VP and YL but on paper they are whopping up on people including La Habra 43-6!
The "Bad"....
Yep, the Highlanders at 1-4 is shocking as this program has been tough top notch for years if not decades. In their 4 losses all to OC Teams they have been beaten handily. This may be the biggest surprise to me season to date.
San Juan Hills @ 0-6 is not what many had predicted. Credit they have played a very tough schedule but they had been on the rise last few seasons and maybe they took a step up to quick too fast. Dan Albano just reported that their head coach is looking to take a more formidable non -league schedule next season.
The "Ugly"...
I'll take the Fifth and kneel.
