I know the politically correct reaction is for everyone to gush on about how wonderful this is---and I know she's overcome a lot of adversity in her life--but I have a contrarian (shocking!) take on this story.
No self-respecting young man in an opposing uniform is going to be going all out to blow this girl up on any rushing attempt. They just won't do it, and putting them in the position of facing a girl is to take advantage of their natural--and proper--instinct to treat her differently...to avoid doing anything to hurt her. It's the same reason why we shouldn't ever put women on the front lines of military combat. The male instinct of protectiveness puts everyone else at risk and compromises the mission. Same here.
It's one thing when there have been girls who kicked XP's--no chance of getting hit--but this is altogether different. Nice story--and I'm sure she's a great kid--but let's move on to Girls Flag Football, which the CIF just sanctioned as a new High School sport.
Bring on the hate.....

I give her Credit @ Credo, I do think you make some valid points and I too would share some of those concerns. P.F. you can't be saying w*ssie no mo'! Too bad MD didn't get her she coulda scored 4 TD's behind that huge offensive line!

What she's doing in a "boy's" game is absolutely inspiring for her guts and perseverence. But I agree that very few male players would be willing to bring the wood (no pun intended) at full speed to lay her out (no pun intended). Furthermore, her touchdown runs were four and one yards. From the clips I've seen she is a very average player at the competitive level she's competing in (i.e Laguna Beach, Godinez, et al.) While she may be an inspiration, she's no white Bo Jackson. So let's allow the woke crowd to have their moment in the sun and then move on.

Too bad you don't know we had a freshman tailback about five or six years ago who was a girl...and a pretty good football player. She had some speed and moves, but after a year of getting hit by Trinity League freshman teams, she switched sports to something less physical.

I think it's cool that a girl plays in a boys sport. Vice versa...not so much.

Vice versa...not so much. Why not? I think the woke crowd that celebrates this courageous girl competing in boys football should be just as breathlessly jubilant next year when a dude decides to compete in the new girls flag football games. Tit for tat, what's good for the goose, and all that stuff.

I think it's cool that a girl plays in a boys sport. Vice versa...not so much. True, but what is important is: She likes the game. I think everyone would HERE feels that way. Baseball is fun. Basketball, perhaps, but football... What is not to like?

She made it on the Fox Sports Wrap Sunday. She should be invited to the White House for a personal audience with the President. I am also surprised that the city of Laguna Beach has not had a parade in her honor yet.

I remember seeing this girl I think in about week 2 of the season. I was asked by a colleague to cover a Laguna Beach game against I can't remember whom. It wasn't until the third or fourth quarter as I was walking past the team that I saw this big ponytail hanging out of a helmet on this small player. This being Laguna Beach and all, I wasn't sure whether it was a guy or a girl from behind but, yeah, that was her. She didn't play in the game and I wasn't sure whether she was a kind of mascot or an actual contributor. At first I thought she was being held out of the game for fear of illegal use of the hands, illegal contact or neutral zone infraction. But evidently she does play.........................Luca

It was announced this morning that this girl has signed an NIL deal with a fitness tracking ap. I wonder if every male high school football player with barely average talent can now expect to do the same.
